I am in the process of re building my motor and wanted to poll what head gaskets are suggested to use. My truck will be hopefully be driven as much as possible. Motor will include Vortec heads, GT35R, the usual piston and rod set up,

Im not gonna vote just yet, but I too would go with Cometics. I cant say I have researched them myself much, either for SyTy or any other application, but I do run across them more than any other head gasket on the web, there must be a reason behind that

food for thought.

Voted Victor. They worked before why not again? Cometics require a special finish on the block and head mating surfaces 50 RA or better. Think of the head gaskets as a fuse that will blow instead of your other expensive parts.

Victor, 'cuz Mike at RPM says so and he knows his stuff.

If you don't want to go though the hassle of the finish needed to run Cometics, just stay with the stock gaskets. Hasn't some people here put the stock gasket to the test of 26lbs of boost ?

I bought my cometic from Mike at RPM, not sure if I asked for it or he recommend it.
If that means anything...

I have had the Victors up to 26+ psi and have had no trouble with the gaskets either. If you want the Victors I am sure a local auto parts store could source them for you or buy from a Sy/Ty vendor.

True for a Ford. The only fuse in these motors are the stock rods and pistons from what I have seen over several years..

I dont have a vote yet but awesome thread just in time to order some parts today. After reading I'll probably go with the victors as I didn't specify any particular finish on my block and head surfaces for the cometics.
That and the victors that came off looked real good and I know it was run hard, the ultimate has a setting for 22 or 24 psi IIRC so I'm sure at some point it was tried just cause its there.

You know i run cometics. 30 psi. if the tune is on point you wont blow any type of gasket.

I am hoping that it stays together and in one piece this time around. Last time the bearings ate themselves gaskets were good. Never re-use your oil cooler and lines, lesson learned.

Yes radiator/with built in oil and trans cooler. I had ordered new oil lines today, still need to order radiator and trans lines, not taking any chances this time around.

might want to go the route i did 99 s10 radiator and seperate cooler for trans and oil cools things down.
