roll bars

can anyone post any pictures of roll bar setups in their sy? I would appreciate any advice. was hoping to put something in with pinable sides for the street and then be legal on the strip for mid 10's. I'm a big guy so roomis an issue anyway getting in and out

do you have to go through the rear window and into the frame in the rear for it to be legal?

unfortunately yes, and they have to be welded (not removeable).

I'm curious as to how Jerry Mccoy has gotten away with no roll bars out the back? I know he has a cage in both butJerry never did the out the window thing with either the S10 or his Syclone and seemed to get them certified. I know that for you to be really legal you have to have them out the rear. I was looking through some old pictures and see that hoovers, pothorcki, and a bunch of others never showed any bars. do they just run without cages? how safe are these things at 125 mph with any? hopefully I'll never need to know, but one time is enough and maybe too much. can they look decent with the bars out the back or do they have to look like an abortion?

Well the only person with a ceritfied cage in a syclone that I know of is charles blossom (the nhra record holder)

Some tracks are more strict then others. You go to a nhra sanctioned event, and you will not be allowed to run. You go to a test and tune night at your local track where you know the tech officials, they might let you slide. They could give a rats ass at the KC nationals.

Most people can get away with a pass or two, then they get booted.

Robert lives in Sweden and by the looks of their tracks, I doubt they have any rules.

Seeing the engine on a 11 second syclone that retained a VERY stockish appearance was eye opening. When he would leave the line, a HUGE orange cloud would come out the exhaust. A few of us were trying to figure out that it was. Talking to him later, we found out it was just rust getting blown out.

You can see the back of his cage in this one. It was constructed very well. If I ever have ET's that will require a cage, I would like to get a carbon copy of his. Don't like the idea of chopping up the truck and ruining the sleeper appearance but, people by me would prolly laugh thinking that I had a "baby light bar"...

I was looking through the latest road and track magazine and noticed the racing version of the new Dodge Viper. It has a FIA approved rollcage built in, but there appears to be no bars going towards the back of the car. I'm going to do some research here and find out what the deal is. I know FIA rules are different than NHRA, but I would feel even safer with a FIA approved cage than an NHRA cage. I may not be able to run drags in the 11's with it, but I bet I could run SCCA and not have ugly bars protruding through the back of the cab.

He went 11.5 at 118 at Nats Full weight 3,900lbs and I think his best is 11.3 at 120.
