Well, we has some initial bs that we had to deal with.....when Ralph took the heads off, there was a little water in one of the cylinders.....and one of the pistons was shot......so he took it over to Simonek to have em do a once over......turns out the cylinder the crap piston was in was bored .0032 where as the other 5 cylinders were .0030....(still learning the measurements so bare with me) just enough to rock the piston around, scuffing up the cylinder walls.....so I had to get it rebored.... .0035....and the berrings were shot...so...Kevin, the guy that sold it to me gave me some money back because the motor had to be rebuilt.....so a few $$$ later, Bruce at Simonek put it together....put a 415 cam in and diamond pistons.....so she should be running like a raped ape.....but with success comes minor problems...
At first, Bruce was priming the engine and he discovered that one of the oil cooler lines had a crack in it...so oil was shooting everywhere....and both Ralph and Bruce had one hell of a time working the old line out and a new one in....the #4 and #2 sparkplug wires were mixed so it ran like shit so that was fixed.....and then Ralph changed out the injectors because it didn't sound right ......then, he discovered that one of the tranny lines had a leak and smoking like a campfire.....so we had to take it to AAMCO.....more $$$......got that fixed.......and now, there is some antifreeze leaking from somewhere....Ralph believes its one of the freeze plugs.....so I'm currently dropping some Bars leak fix it shit into the radiator and Ralph sold me a cat so I had a new exhaust system put in........so now...with all that said and done.....I'm having some problems with hesitation.....I step on the gas.....engine bogs for a second...then screams to life......don't get me wrong....it goes....but I have to break it in......working on getting a datamaster cable so we can run some diagonostics on it.....
So, over all.....I can't complain......the engine I had was leaking oil like a bitch.....and ran like shit....and the oil was always black because one of the cylinders had bent rings....you should see the valves.....and I did spend a few thousand dollars more than I wanted to.....but I did learn a lot watching Ralph and Bruce putting the engine in..and tweaking it.....so once we work all the bugs out and get the engine broken in......I'm sure I'll be a happy with the results.....the engine is sound....clean....and it sounds purty...lol.....but it seems with a lot of Sy/Ty owners.....when you fix one thing....another problem seems to pop up..Ralph just told me that my suspension is shot...*sighs*....but it will have to wait till I pay this lil venture off.....I'm looking to see if an abbreviated license plate for "Money Pit" is available at motor vehicle.....lol......
