Speedometer stopped working and temp gauge sticks.

Well heres the problem. i can drive the truck for a bit, gas up, pay the bill get back in it and the temp gauge goes right to over heat. The truck was running normal nothing showing overheating or making any weird noises. So after this happend one time i decided to hit the top of the dash cluster and problem solved the temp needle went back to normal. I tried the same thing a few days ago but i gues after a couple of hard hits i dislogged something else in the cluster cause the speedo jumped and stopped working right after.

The speedo needle is still in place in the cluster, how easy is it to get the cluster out and fix the needle?

Also im assuming the temp gauge sticking is wire related and there is an after market alarm system in the truck that no longer works. I have other interior work to do. You guys got any suggestion as to what to look for?

Be careful. One time I had a CD player that was skipping. I got pissed off and hit it to try and get it to work. The damn thing got stuck on the light rock station and I was blessed with listening to Delilah every night home from work. :squint:

I can offer my :2cents: in getting the gauge cluster out: It's not as hard as it sometimes is made out to be. Since many of these screws aren't really hidden, one glance you will pretty much know what needs to be unscrewed and where.
The only part that was a real pain in the ass was the heater controls, but just be patient and you'll get it just fine.

And the two screws at the top of the cover, make sure you use a magnetic tipped screw driver up there. You'll know what I mean when you look up there. It's the screws that have to be accessed up top from the heater control area and the light switch area.

Once the cluster is out, it's easy to get access to the gauges...Just remove the torx style screws and the clear plastic will come off with a good tug.

So i have the cluster out of the truck and found these wires clamped to the back of 2 bulbs. any ideas what its for? I looked at the circuit board where the copper is showing for the contact points its sorta worn out. on the bottom green one. The top light seems fine. Nothing is burnt on it.

Then theres the rest of the wiring in the truck that needs work. and that is speaker wire for the house. Thinking imma have to take the dash right out.
