My starter finally crapped out on me, does everyone just get an AC Delco or is there some mysterious brand I've yet to discover. Brands discovered by Jason: AC Delco.

CVR 5323 is a nice ministarter that fits perfect and you can rotate it so the solenoid is away from the manifold.

jegs and summit both sell mini starters.
I think any SB Chevy 168 tooth starter will work.

Whatever you do don't go to Autozone or Pep Boys to get your starter, if you do just get the AC Delco and fight it back in there.

I have a AC Delco mini-starter that is used on Tahoes and such, it is a permanent magnet starter so the only thing that does not like heat is the solenoid and I wrapped that with some thermo-tec wrap. The starter is very nice and I have not had any problems with it and don't expect to any time soon. You can buy it from anywhere the only thing is you will have to con them into taking your old starter for the core but it can be done, I don't know of any place to get it from except looking in some car amgazines you can find them. If you don't get that one get the cvr or one that looks like it, they are Nippendenso's and they rock, I will get one eventually. I recommend not getting a CSI or a Tilton brand because they are a cheap brand of starter with there name on the side. Sorry for the long post, also my starter was like $80 brand new.
