starter problem

first off i installed new starter,but when cranking it still clicks a few times before starting.now i went to start it and it clicked and then nothing all power shut off,i attempted starting a few times still with no power and then its like power came back and then it clicked and started,any help would be greatly appreciated

Check your purple wire out I had the same prob right above the oil pan it hugs the block and scraped down to bare wire and it was shorting out when I went to start ounce in awhile until I figured out why

Is the purple wire going to the started cooked?

I put a 30 amp relay off the power block and a 10gauge wire to the starter and it works great,thanks for the help
