Stereo options

Wondering if anyone knows if a dash installation kit is made where you can put a 1 DIN stereo along with a 1/2 DIN equalizer stacked underneath to take up the whole 1.5 DIN opening? Exploring my options and not too keen on the 1.5 DIN stereos on ebay since no one seems to make them anymore and not wanting to take a chance on something that may crap out sooner rather than later.

Re: Stereo options

I had a set up like that in my SY, back in the day. Anyone still make any 1/2 din eq's? I made my own install chassis so it was flush with the dash trim, I cut and resized the A/C duct for the required clearance for the radio. I could take a pic for you if you can't find something available retail.

Re: Stereo options

I'll try to find it for a pic. I think I used a metal frame install kit, like a Metro? Mounted the equipment to it, and made a faceplate/surround out of ABS.

Re: Stereo options

i want to do something similar-
i love old school car stereo and have some 1995ish fosgate amps in my current system
wanting to add a 2000-2001 alpine ere-g180 11 band eq that i think would be sick.

my installer thinks otherwise.

Appreciate it. Based on the pic, I'm sure I can make a bracket I can use to do this. I also agree with Gnocide, I like the idea of old school kind of stuff as far as stereo install. Already got some wheels turning in my head.

Re: Stereo options

Metra makes kits for a DIN radio and 1/2 DIN EQ. Part numbers 99-4544, 99-4545, 99-4644. The last gives you the most options for depth. Different bracket combos, Google for info.

Re: Stereo options

I checked out that Metra part number and that should work great for me. Will just have to see about modifying the A/C vent behind the stereo so I can push it back flush with the bezel. Thanks!
