do you shotpeen or nitrite a crank?? or is it best to do both ? how does this make the crank stronger? how much HP can it handle?

Nitride schmitride...cryogenically treat it. Nitriding is a superficial surface hardening. Cryo treating fortifies the entire crank not the outer .020" or so.

The only drawback, he only takes cash, checks or MO's no plastic.

what do they do when cryro treating your crank? how much does it cost usually?

The bring the temp of the crank down slowly, like -400 deg. F.
They let it sit there for a while, then they bring the temp back up slowly.
This is a little simplified, but you get the idea.
The place I mentioned has price listings for just about everything. The crank alone will run you $200.

doesnt nitriting consist of bringing the temp down too? how is this different?
