Stock intercooler

Is the flow restriction of the stock ic the inlet or is it the core? If it is the inlet then could you take it to a machine shop and have them replace the small inlet with a larger one.

I guess you mean air flow. Anyway, it's a common sense that bell mouthing the IC's inlet could worth .1 sec on a stock turbo truck...

The owner of a local performance shop says he helped ATR design the w/a IC for syty's. Said they tested a 3" inlet on it instead of 2.5" and it flowed about 1000cfm. So yeah, bigger inlet will help.

I would put the money into an air/air tho...stock IC is a waste for the most part.

the 1.75 ID will flow about 450 cfm (+-) at a velocity of 450ft/sec to support about 300 hp

an ID of 2" will flow about 600 cfm (+-) at a velocity of 450ft/sec to support about 400 hp

450 ft/sec is a bench mark

speeding up the velocity (using a smaller ID or trying to force more cfm) will create a bottle neck.

this is of course rule of thumb stuff from text books but it will give you someting to chew on

someone must have flow benched one of these things
