Still havent put on Campbell's amazing diff cover yet.

Looking GOOD! I like the way that you added a "!" to my work ! You're doing fine, just make sure that you have everything squared away before August ;)...

Looks really good. I might need to get one of those.

Ya don't say, what "favor" are you looking for ? In addition to "4.3 TURBO", I also have:

"Typhoon"

And "Syclone"

Since you own both, I could give you a price break on two ;)...

Shoot, I can engrave the Lord's Prayer on there if ya want! Might be kinda small though . The cover sans ribs a "TA Performance" piece. You can see the "stages" of the transformation on the last page of my thread here.

not to interject, but the TA Performance cover is smooth with no ribs, and the TrickFlow cover is ribbed (for her pleasure).

Re: Syclone #136

Bored at work, so i'm bumping the thread from the dead.

I broke the engine last Fall. It obliterated the rod bearing on #1. I had about 10k miles on the motor since the last rebuild.

As of last fall, it was the same motor, intake to oil pan. I switched from a 72mm, to a 62mm, to a 67mm turbo. About 5 different torque converters. Fabricated 4 different exhaust systems. Refreshed the 700 after a kinked line melted the planetaries. Fabricated an A2A intercooler, mounted in the stock CCHE location between the frame rails. Added a double pumper Walbro. Switched from the stock ECM and $59 to a FAST Classic. And added some Caltracs.

I pulled the engine out this winter, and had the block and crank frozen. Both are currently at the machine shop getting inspected and refinished. Then everything will go back together. I'm switching to Cometics. I have a Renz upper plenum, so i am making a new A2A intercooler. I got rid of the Alky injection, so i will run race gas on the rare chance i go to the track. I swapped the double pumper Walbro out for a Bosch 044 with a plastic cell. And i upsized from the 65# injectors to 80s.

Pictures to come as i rebuild the engine, and throw the truck back together. See you in Bowling Green.

2013 season is done. I parked it for the winter.

My crankshaft took awhile at the machine shop, so by the time i got it back and put the motor together it wasnt running until early August.

Shortly after i broke the reluctor off of the distributor and unknowningly hurt the ignition module. I replaced the distributor with a oem style reman. I did some grudge racing but the ignition module held me back. Also the truck was running consistently hot 200-210. I attribute that to my undersize radiator and a weak fan.

So this winter's project will be to move my intercooler down to the stock CCHE location, similar to an RPM setup. And run both pipes under the rad and past the pulleys. Then fab up some ducts to channel as much frontal air through the intercooler as i can get. I'll put a bigger aluminum radiator in, and put my intrepid fans back on. Clean up some wiring and make a new cold air intake. Going for more reliability in 2014.

Hey Brandon...looks good. FYI, I didn't see a change in water temps after changing around my intercooler setup to fmic like yours.

I recently went to dual spal fan setup from a busted Taurus fan...and the spal cools things faster than the Taurus did...and I only have one of the two hooked up. What fan setup are you running?

its a claimed "2000cfm" zirgo fan 14" with a sheet metal shroud i bent up. I've tried different thermostats a 160 and 180. My cooling system doesnt have any bypass in it, so i tired drilling holes in the t-stat, which didnt help. I turned my fan on earlier. But it always settled right at 205. The fan wouldn't pass the paper test on the grille.

I have a dequick radiator and taurus fan, along with a stewart stage 2 pump and there modded 160 t-stat. I have never wired up the fans to a temp sender yet but with the truck idling while I was checking things on it it was about 190 no fans etc, turned the fan on high and within 1-2 minutes temp was at 142. Look into the stewart products, you can get them from summit now and they are great quality. My dads ty always stayed 190ish with the ac on and now his stays way lower with the better pump and t-stat.

You have done a great job everything looks great and good luck with finishing everything :D

Oh another thing you could do is cut some vents in your front bumper, I have some pics on the site in my sig they are in 2 albums I have been too lazy to fix that so far!

thanks for the info. I believe my problem is the large solid IC endtanks blocking too much of the radiator surface. if the IC core was the same size as the rad core, then I would be ok. I might go for a FMIC with rear exit tanks to wrap around the rad, similar to Robert's truck. We'll see, I like this IC now.

Re: Syclone #136

and i thought i was goingto have an easy winter of playing with the intercooler.

the truck was running rough before i parked it. Tonight i pulled the distributor and the bronze gear is junked. 4 teeth completely ground down, and the rest thinned to a knife-edge. Probably gonna pull the motor and check for bronze shavings, maybe tear it all apart again.

What cam are you running? Looks like you need the composite dist gear but it sounds like maybe you got away with it [/jinx].

Brandon, didnt read all the post, but if your running a comp cam I had the same problem with it eating up dist. gears.I sent it back and they remachined it.Been fine ever since.

Re: Syclone #136

its a Comp custom grind roller. I ran a melonized gear for several years with this cam, and very little gear wear. I switched distributors and had to run the bronze gear due to the shaft size, and it ate the teeth off. I have a steel gear in it now, i am going to get another melonized one.

I'm sure my high volume oil pump and thick diesel oil put extra strain on the gear.

Re: Syclone #136

Annual thread bump, since my build constantly changes .

Since last december, i have moved the intercooler down under the radiator like the Kenne Bell and RPM kits. The radiator efficiency went way up, especially since i use a smaller rad for the ram air box. Which BTW works awesome, intake temps are consistent as the engine coolant temp rises and falls.

For this winter i am going to bolt on some ATR headers. Also move the ECM from the heater box into the center console and reroute my harness along the transmission. Replace the ZQ8 steering box that is blowed out loose. Recess the radiator forward into the support so i have the depth for a Mark8 fan. Mount a small fan and scoop on the intercooler. And make a new charge pipe, cause mine is hitting the hood. Put on a set of billet fuel rails with a new regulator, and move the fuel pump from in the bed, to under the bed so i dont spill gas everytime i clean the fuel filter.

Performance wise, it still has a misfire only in 3rd gear under boost. It cuts out at 110mph which kills my 1/4 mile time. Keep fighting it next summer.

Some pics.

Re: Syclone #136

Quick question: I have a set of Kenne Bell headers on the shelf, and the "eyeball" test shows me that the turbo is going to sit a bunch higher that the stock manifolds. Do you have any pics of that specifically? I'm wondering if my downpipe will fit or if I have to remake it.

Thanks! And everything is looking great!
