Just in case anyone's curious, below are some photos of the inexpensive syclone that I bought in north texas the other day....I drove 1000 miles roundtrip yesterday to pick it up....fyi, the last half of the album are pics the seller sent me before I picked it up and the garage pics were taken at my house today....All I have done is sprayed some degreaser on the motor....havent even put a battery in it yet....I'll probably try to start it this weekend.... haven't decided how far I want to take this one, but whatever happens I'd like to try and keep the cost down as low as possible.....I could get alot more done quickly if I yank the body first though...Need to think about this for a few days before I dive into it....

thanks guys....jeremy, I thought about picking it up over weekend but decided after all to haul ass up there and get the miles behind me at once....A good friend of mine rode with me and we were able to take care of alot of other stuff along the way....smaug: I'm not leaving these at the warehouse!!! they get all scratched up....

edit:the first problem I discovered was a bad fuel pump...so I thought "COOL"...thats probably all it needs!!! but the syty reality hit me shortly thereafter...

Well, I decided to dive into her last night....did a fuel pump and filter....fired her up and found a dead #4 cylinder and a ton of white smoke...check out what came out of the exhaust when it started...I guess thats what years of sitting does to mild steel exhayst pipes....today, I've been working on yanking the passenger side head....also found a bad water pump, decent oil leak at the front of the oil pan, but no blowby or coolant in the oil....my guess is a bad head gasket.....We'll find out in about an hour....this is the kind of stuff that would drive the average human being to jump off the syty ship.... I was also under the impression that the motor had been rebuilt (according to jac)...I was relieved to find plenty of evidence that I'm dealing with an unopened motor....had all the stock vac lines in place as well....

Hey, I'm not the only one!!! :rotf:


I let my good friend here take the ebay one that I recenty won, so I'm not out of control yet!! :rock: he's been asking me for a 6-7k dollar one since he drove my sy for the first time over a year ago....he's very excited about that truck and can't wait to get his hands on it....this truck (1760) should keep me from taking 733 apart so often... great stress reliever and not to mention, wallet drainer....I'm going to see to it that we get a few more owners down here....good homes...

The last thing we need to be doing is working on trucks when you make it down here.....I'll need to show you around this unique little town to make sure you visit us again.... Get that truck and I'll help you....I go to San Antonio all the time....good to see you the other day!!

pretty much finished assembling the new motor for this truck...I've spent most of the time cleaning parts....started with a 50k stock ty motor with one slightly bent rod, stock pistons and a hone, L35 rods pressed in, new factory rings, polished uncut crank, new lifters, timing set, freshened heads, victor hg's, solid mount on driver's side, sandblasted acc. brackets, acid dipped upper and lower intakes to get the oil crud out, new water pump...taking my time to eliminate any leaks before they start....just need to cosmetically clean up the motor a little more....I hope the tranny's good!!

Just need to eliminate abs, and degrease the engine compartment tonight and maybe, finally stab the motor....need to have this running by sunday to get a little body work in next week in time for our meet...working on this at home is quite the challenge....

oh yeah....I must thank god again for taiwanese portapowers.... :tup:

I'm jealous! I'll admit, its going to be weird seeing the crippler uncrippled at the meet. I really hope you can have it done by then. That's awesome! :tup:

I'm working on it....doing my best Jac... I never have much free time during the hot months but I've made some late night time for this one recently... work has been nuts lately....If for some reason I can't finish it, there's always the 186k mile ebay syclone from san fransisco that's sitting in Austin already...but I'm doing my best anyway.... :tup:

Hey Buddy!! What's going on man? Since you left SA, Daron moved down here and Victor (Vicmanblue) just bought a sweet sy out of houston....He claims to have spotted two other sy's besides his ....they're finally starting to pop up around here...Yup, I still have the stang...I bought that thing new at the end of '99....Still runs perfect (because my wife was the primary driver of it since new :lol: ).... she stopped driving it about a year ago and I use it once in a while now to run into town...As far as "how many trucks I'll revive", it's hard to find a good deal man...I was really looking for a project sy when this one popped up...Jac gave me an amazing price on it and I'm still way under budget, but this is still a ton of work as any project can be...I'm glad I had decided to put a new motor in this one as I found pieces of broken piston when I pulled the oil pan last week :turbo: All this time I thought it only needed a headgasket!! you never know what kind of lives these trucks lived until you really tear stuff down....hope to be driving it tonight...you are in VA now, correct? take care...

My hands may not be as rough as your serv, but I don't try to cut and scrape my hands up just to get them rough and post it on a board :roll:. Serv stood at the wall in his garage for 3 weeks rubbing his hands on the bricks in preperation for this photo.
