Well I Caved in and shipped some cash to Mike Renz and picked up the "Myclone" Turbo, you can read all about it here: http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73809&highlight=myclone+turbo
But the basics of it are David aka Myclone orginally purchased this turbo from E-rue ,or so I've been told, in an attempt to build a 9 second syclone. We all know Myclone passed away in an unfortunate accident and Renz got ahold of the turbo, well a paypal transfer later and the turbo is on its way to beautiful Las Vegas, NV. Now I did take Renz up on the offer to have myclone's "Avatar" engraved into the compressor housing, because of that , Syclone #507 will always have a piece of Myclone in her, and heck, maybe myclone finally will make that 9 second pass ;p
So here is the turbo, Will it power a little 4.3 to a high 9 second pass? Only time will tell.
On with the build, my actual realistic goal is a low 10's streetable truck, It is my first attempt at any car that fast, so we will have to see how it goes. So whats the hardware look like thats going to suck up asphalt all over Vegas? Read on...
At the heart of the build A..... . Whats this?
Bring it out a little bit...
Yea A bowtie, I Figured if your gonna build a nice house, you gotta start with a good foundation, and yes, I am one of the idiots that going to spend twice as much and make less power than a lsx or a turbo sbc, but what can I say? I love the 4.3. Some more Bowtie porn
Ok OK, so maybe i got a little bit ahead of myself, maybe you should see what the bowtie is actually going into first, be warned, its in a couple of pieces...
syclone #507
In her better days...
How she sits now... Daily Drvier XLR-V in the background
C6 Black Chrome 18x9.5 with z51's for stopping power, Had to trash the calipers because the boots were ripped to shreds, still waiting on new ones..
Laced up with some Falkens
MIke Lee supplied cornering, The one thing I can say about Mike Lees Stuff, is his welds belong in a museum,
Aluminum Front clip and intercooler, I put a 3/8 steel support undernearth so the aluminum support inst holding the horizontal weight of the intercooler or radiator, just keeping them from moving laterally, still have to trim it.
Harwood Cowl Hood sitting lonely
It has the Aero Hood latches on it, Installed after hearing about Mrkings radiator support hood latch ripping off. Upon inspection the hood latch is flimsy as hell, and the welds dont even penetrate completely, I cant recommend using it.
Bed in the corner waiting to be powerwashed, its off currently so I can mount my Fuel cell and Run fuel lines, Speaking of that ....
I ordered this from jegs, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AEI-18661/ The Aeromotive Stealth,
Its a Fuel cell with filters and the A1000 pump built inside so it runs submerged, should help the pump last longer, but its been on backorder for a month
I went with teflon lines after reading some horror stories about regular off the shelf braided, a tad more expensive but no big deal
Plumbing Galore!
So with the block comes the Crank! Which I dont have yet, its on order from Moldex, Billet, 3.48 stroke Standard, how much Horsepower will it stand up to? Only time will tell. This was the bill that made me want to go lsx/sbc but I did it anyway ( yes im stupid)
What is this? No my name is not matt, its kevin
Je Extremes 40 Over, should leave room for all the "errors" in the future since the bowtie can be bored out to 4.125, its current bore is 20 over.
And what will hold these monsters in place you ask? Well Sir, have I got the answer for you!
Thats right, these babies were made in grand rapids michigan /armyofdarkness
Should be able to hold our horsepower goals, come to think of it, I have no horsepower goals, I started buying parts before i set my goal, hmmm....
And on the other side of it all...
And for the front of it all...
But you may be asking yourself, But what will flow all that monster air from the monster myclone turbo?
supplied by Mike Lee aka Perfect welds
But What are the hiding? Whats this?
BAM little brodies, surprisingly light
Hardware..
The other rest inside the Parts Bin, also seen is radiator and mig welder
And to turn this monster asphalt eater over....
Dun Dun Dun
Incase the driveshaft wants to go for a trip
Will this be enough for the Myclone turbo?
So Im actually looking for some input, I havnt decided on What size injectors yet, Or what ECM, or What transmission (th400/4l80e)? Also what HP levels do you think this combo can make assuming no deto?
What do you guys think?
Keep watching....
