Well I Caved in and shipped some cash to Mike Renz and picked up the "Myclone" Turbo, you can read all about it here: http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73809&highlight=myclone+turbo

But the basics of it are David aka Myclone orginally purchased this turbo from E-rue ,or so I've been told, in an attempt to build a 9 second syclone. We all know Myclone passed away in an unfortunate accident and Renz got ahold of the turbo, well a paypal transfer later and the turbo is on its way to beautiful Las Vegas, NV. Now I did take Renz up on the offer to have myclone's "Avatar" engraved into the compressor housing, because of that , Syclone #507 will always have a piece of Myclone in her, and heck, maybe myclone finally will make that 9 second pass ;p

So here is the turbo, Will it power a little 4.3 to a high 9 second pass? Only time will tell.
IMG_0436.JPG

On with the build, my actual realistic goal is a low 10's streetable truck, It is my first attempt at any car that fast, so we will have to see how it goes. So whats the hardware look like thats going to suck up asphalt all over Vegas? Read on...

At the heart of the build A..... . Whats this?

Yea A bowtie, I Figured if your gonna build a nice house, you gotta start with a good foundation, and yes, I am one of the idiots that going to spend twice as much and make less power than a lsx or a turbo sbc, but what can I say? I love the 4.3. Some more Bowtie porn

Bed in the corner waiting to be powerwashed, its off currently so I can mount my Fuel cell and Run fuel lines, Speaking of that ....
I ordered this from jegs, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AEI-18661/ The Aeromotive Stealth,
Its a Fuel cell with filters and the A1000 pump built inside so it runs submerged, should help the pump last longer, but its been on backorder for a month :(

I went with teflon lines after reading some horror stories about regular off the shelf braided, a tad more expensive but no big deal

So Im actually looking for some input, I havnt decided on What size injectors yet, Or what ECM, or What transmission (th400/4l80e)? Also what HP levels do you think this combo can make assuming no deto?

What do you guys think?

Keep watching....

Would be cool to see code 59 ECM in the 9s.

Nice stuff! I'm jealous. Good luck with the project.

Seeing that you plan on driving it on the street I would go with a built 4L80E and the Big Stuff 3 to control the engine and transmission. I'm pretty sure it will control both.

Is that a 78mm turbo? If so I don't think you would have a problem making 800-1000hp at the motor with that combo.

I would think a 85-100 lbs injectors would be needed at that hp level your shooting for.

Who is going to be doing the tunning?

Nice pictures, truck looks good. Can't to see it all put together and running.

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

84's should be good for injectors; I prefer FAST. Too many open variables to guess HP. Be mindful when making decisions going forward, a very thin line separates a true "street" truck from a drag truck that can run on the street. The latter is "streetable" but miserable to live with. Keep your goals in mind when making decisions (such as 400 vs. 80e). Curious how engine cooling will be for a street truck with a large FMIC in front of the radiator making some good HP.

All looks good so far. What crank/intake?

Yes, BS3 can control a 60e or 80e along w/ the motor. I have this setup in the ls1 ty, and so do qbnkiller and autoaddictions, and probably a couple more.

I have a Moldex billet crank on order 3.48 stroke standard main and rod journals, they said 8-10 weeks about 11 weeks ago, honestly I think it will be 6 months maybe more from the stories I've heard. I hjavnt decided on the Intake, any suggestions? Is the Syclone intake just crappy at high horsepower levels?

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

The sky is the limit with that setup i would say boosting 30lbs and e85 gas 750-800hp it will hold 9sec pass for shore.and i would go with a bs3 computer is plug and play and cambell automotive in canada sell them for a good price . That were i got my from and they have great service .you can call them at any time . They can even send you a starting program so you can start.the truck. Good luck and nice truck.

remember if you go e85 you need a big pump at least 2 255walboro and a dach 8 line fot gas and 160pound injectors .93octane 95 pound remember if you go to small or medium size injector and you want to do more thing to the truck you will be max out and you will go lien.

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

I was thinking 84-96 pound injectors with a race fuel mix hovering around 110 octane, I went with a intank a1000 setup, hopefully it will be enough. I actually have a set of 75# injectors but i think they might be a tad small, I was thinking about going bs3 but I also have a classic fast system I may use.

I was maxing out the 75's before going with 84's. 84's will get you low 10's. A1000 should be plenty. I run 110 with my tune using the classic FAST. I won't defend the fuel distribution of the stock intake but I use it and am meeting the goal you are shooting for with very good driveablility. I do run richer than I need to just to be safe given the uneven distribution.

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

Excellent start :) My thoughts on your build / ideas:

- Go bigger on your injectors than you think you could possibly need. I'd really suggest 160's. Nothing wrong with a low duty cycle on the injectors, and will keep you from having to re-buy later when it's time to step up. Also, 160's aren't the nightmare on the street that they once were.

- If this is going to be a true "street" build, a 4L80E is the only way to go. If not, I'd really think about either a TH-400 or a Powerglide. Either way, you are going to need a nice size stall on the converter with that turbo and stockish cubes. I'd guess at around 3500 to start with on the 4L80E or the TH-400.

- You may find in time that the hotside of that turbo is a tad bit oversized for the build, unless you are planning on turning a lot more RPM than I would guess. A smaller exhaust housing would certainly help it spool faster, and I don't see it suffering on the top end.

- As for ECU, that is a question for whomever will be tuning the truck. If it will be you, try to get some in person looks with Big Stuff 3, F.A.S.T. XFI, and Accel DFI, and see which one you like best. Yes, a BS3 will run the trans as well, but if an XFI works better for you, TCI (who makes FAST) has a trans controller that will talk with the XFI box.

- Regardless of your intended fuel, you will want to consider a good methanol injection setup. It will help on top of anything from 93 to Q16.

- For intake, I think a converted carb intake and an elbow should save you a few grand, and make pretty much the same power. Not sure how hard it will be to find an intake to match those heads.

Overall, I think the truck is going to be a lot of fun. You might want to consider something a little stickier than those tires. I could see tire smoke at 40-60 mph on a downshift without some good rubber.

Best of luck... I'll be following this thread :)

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

Fuel Setup finally around today after being backordered for over a month, I went with the A1000 stealth intank setup, hopefully the Intank pump will last longer than some A1000's I know of.

Re: The Myclone Turbo Truck v.Bowtie, Parts Porn

Honestly? It's a beautiful piece, but your build could potentially reach 1000 HP at the crank as the specs sit, and that pump is good for ... 1000 HP at the crank. Not enough breathing room for my taste. For the $50 difference, I would send it back and get the Eliminator version. It will look the same, but give you 400 more HP worth of pump to play with.
