Looks like I might get banned from fordtruckworld.com soon. I keep arguing, bringing evidence whatever it takes to prove to these guys syclones are the quickest but they just don't get it. My case is both trucks are very close in performance so it comes down to the driver and of course every lighting driver is john force so traction and tire spin is never a problem and they all run 12's from the factory but with the syclones awd the syclone will win almost everytime. If nothing else it's more consistent. I owed a 454SS so I know the problems a pickup with globs of torque has. They all slap on pulleys plug in chips and blow the spark plugs right out the block. Scan tool? What's that?

You guys have no respect for the Lightning huh>??? I mean I did not sign up here to argue but to get info on Syclones and Typhoon because I really like them and hope to some day own one. I see a lot of Ford guys giving the Sys and Tys respect so how come it isn't mutual>??? Is it that hard to think that one could actually be beat by a Lightning>??? It is only a matter of who has more money to dump into there vehicle. No flames please. -Mat-

We respect L's...after all they are mass produced, I see 4 or 5 a day so how could we not be aware of there ability. On the other hand, L guys usually don't know crap about sytys as they are rare...does this seem logical to you??? Good now that you got the obvious, second rule to learn about sytys since you are looking for info is that they are deadly out of the hole. This joker tells us he smokes a ty ON THE STREET by 5 cars in two blocks while eating french fries...haha...you call that respect from the L guys? Glad your interested in sytys. You are welcome here anytime, but not if your full of shit. Get one, launch it, and you tell me if a L even comes close to a syty out of the hole, let alone smoke one while eating fries by 5 car lengths.

Can you say, "Hi i'm a f'n uneducated idiot with an L"? :banghead:

Yup! Zero to Sixty, from a redlight, on the street, BOTH vehicles running properly and perfect launches - NO FRIGGIN' WAY my L can touch my Sy!(Stock, or not)

I have the utmost respect for L's,after all they are the second fastest truck ever made. :)
See,you don't know the whole story. I won't go into it,but Leonard has a 7.99 timeslip,and I got a 7.68,so you tell me,who's faster??
I know that there are plenty of L's and probably a bunch of Honda's that could smoke me or any Sy/Ty,but it doesn't happen often. In fact I've never had a close race on the street.
How you act is how you will be treated,as evidenced by the warm welcome you received here.
We all like fast trucks,we all hate assclowns.

Welcome to syty.net

I hate assclowns too.

I hate assclowns too. Believe me I know what a Sy/Ty can do out of the hole. I have been in one and seen many at the track. That is why I respect them so much and hope to own one soon. Just seems like some people couldn't fathom a Lightning beating one. From a dead hit on the street it would be very very very hard. I know I would lose simply because I can spin thru 3rd gear on a punch from 0mph on the street. But from a roll my truck is deadly on the street. Granted there are many out there who are faster I just don't see them. Lucky me. Well with that said I am not an "F'n uneducated idiot with a Lightning." Oh and about the timeslips....your truck is obvisously faster Jimmy. Thanks, A respectful Lightning owner. -Mat-

I dont think many people here would argue about a syty vs. an L in a roll on. Shit I dont like messing with some honda's on a roll on. Our trucks are not roll on trucks. I was beat by a talon a friend of mine has from a roll on, but from a stop light it was a joke. I had 5 car lengths on him in a heart beat. When I raced that 1 gen DSM and blew my tranny I only jumped and that was it and I was already a car length ahead of him. From a roll on, I wouldnt have stood a chance. Most of us know when our trucks are so deadly, and thats from a dead stop. I will race 100% of the cars I see at a stop light and will be confident about beating 95% of them. L's included if it is from a stop light to stop light. That is where we rule the street and we know it. I have not been in an L but I know that they are fast trucks. But on the same note it took Ford until 1999 (8 years after the sy) to beat it. If GMC would have continued building them the technology would have only gotten better and they would be more deadly then ever.

Know one called you a "f'n uneducated idiot with a L"...

perhaps you misunderstood, but I was talking about the idiot that made the post about killing a ty by 5 cars in 2 blocks while eating fries...I mean if you don't agree, even as a L owner, then something is wrong...

again, maybe you read it wrong or I spoke it wrong, either way it was not intended toward you...as a matter of fact, reread my post and you'll see I welcomed you here.

For what it's worth, you guys know an out of tune Syty can run 15s, who knows what was going on with the truck that guy raced. You guys know best that it takes a lot of work to keep one of these things running in top shape all the time (ignition, tranny, propshaft...).

Good point wes and true...yet 5 cars in two block while eating french fries???? Like I have said many times, anyone can beat anyone with right amount of $$$...but lets get real about the stories and not disrespect the syty community with such obvious BS, 15 sec shitty ty or not...I dought it went according to this idiots story.

I see by the signatures that several of us own both a L and a Sy. I love both of my trucks, but there is no way my L can hold with a Sy on street tires from 0-60. The guy who made the "french fry" statement is full of crap or the SyTy owner didn't know he was racing.

Or it wasn't a Typhoon.

I agree, I think my truck goes OK (12.5 best) but I have lost a handful of races I can think of, due to being out of tune. My truck has a mind of its own, it's so bad that sometimes it can feel like a dog on the way to the track, and then I go and run my fastest times ever. That's happened more than once! So what I'm trying to say is, these (my?) trucks are not consistent for shit. Mine is fastest when I am cruising on the highway and pull off and do a quarter mile blast. It is slowest if I have been sitting in a parking lot for 5-10 minutes and then someone wants me to pull out and race 50 feet from where I'm parked (totally heat soaked). Same thing with race gas & high boost versus pump gas & stock boost. The differences I am talking about here are EASILY 1 second difference. That's a pretty huge "Jekyll & Hyde" condition.

The times you posted above show you were quicker than I at different times of the year. I think my quickest time was a 7.91 last year with a little more than 91 mph. I'm not sure what your mph is, but if you do post it I think it will show that my truck is faster in the 1/8th than yours.

BTW, I should have the truck tuned and ready to go by the middle of march. We can meet at the track here in Clarksville.

I have seen a situation in street racing where one car has a slightly faster MPH, but slower ET, but one highways roll it still loses to the quicker car with the slower mph.

The L has had an additional .23sec to accelerate 1mph and sometime the different shift points will also play into this. I am not saying that this will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me either. I would say it is too close to predict with a certainty which one is faster. All we can tell is which one is quicker...
