Time to get something new?

Dealer put in a new inst. cluster yesterday, I get it and the voltage is at 18. Tell dealer, they run a volt meter, reads 14.4, dealer tells me cluster is bad will get new one Friday.

Got a call from the dealer this morning, I got the last one that was in stock so they will take the old one and fix the oil pressure gauge and put it back in... Maybe I can get them to swap the needles at least

WRX's have been looking kinda of nice

Yup and any stock syty that wasn't running 100% would get a lesson in how it feels to get beat on the street...

My STi busted out 1.7 and 1.8 60's all day long. 1.767 was the best i could muster.....so yea - anyone w/ any idea of how to launch it will give you a run. Especially if its for more than a 1/4 mile.

The STIs in Portland are throwing down sh*t numbers at the track (bad drivers, I know) but they're getting mid to low 14's and some are breaking into the 13's...I'd imagine they'd be a little easier to launch than that.

rev to 5500-6500 and drop the clutch. not too hard. the 2nd-3rd gate is kinda spaced out....took me a while to get used to it to stop missing 3rd gear. Feels like you're throwing it way out to the right when shifting hard.

I ran a best of 13.209@102.86. And my 60' was only 1.830 for that run. I'm not the best driver ever, but i'm not afraid to beat my car. :)

Is that with a stock STi, or you got mods?

Renz said it was 100% stock, he ran his STi a bunch of time at the Pittsburg Track rental (18 if I remember right) and he was consistently runing in 13.3-13.6 range.

good god this topic is freaky. i just came to the decision to sell the Sy and get a WRX (YAY FOR WARENTEES!!!!)

still fighting myself over regular WRX or STi. so far the sticker price is helping the WRX to win. :-?

trust me....the sti is WELL worth the extra $6k over the regular wrx. I got the wrx before the sti was out.....i don't regret upgrading to the sti one bit.

yes, my sti is bone stock. That was at full weight too, jack/spare tire/etc.

Definately get the Sti.Stock wrx only runs 14.1 best.If you want low 13's its fairly easy to do but bye bye warranty. However if straight line stats are all that matters stock wrx with an mbc run at 17.5 will get you 13.5 13.6 if you can drive the car right.I was cutting consistent 1.7 60ft.I wouldnt recommend dumping the clutch however youll get better results less drive train shock fluttering the revs at 5,to 6500 slipping the clutch slightly on the upsweep once you start rolling dump it the rest of the way.Tricky to get right but well worth it.i had over 60 passes on mine no probs whatsoever stock clutch trans etc.I ran consistent 13.1 13.2 @102-5.Stock turbo, also with t.v screens ps2 and stereo so more than full interior .High 12's are possible with stock turbo but thats it.

disclaimer: Sti launch technique may be different

I work at a Subaru dealer. Send me cash and I'll get you an STi at employee cost.

I've heard the dealerships are claiming abuse on a lot of wrx's then charging the owners for the diagnostic. I know it's happened at least 3 times in San Louis Obispo, and there's only about 20-25 wrx's there. I guess the dealerships are nicer to the STI owners though. How much could you get the STI for???

Almost every WRX I've seen has been abused. It doesn't take much to screw up that transmission. The STi will hold up to a lot more abuse.

About $30,200 depending on if we're getting any incentives and how the sales manager is feeling. Not a super great deal, but Subarus don't have a really high markup.

The last used one we got sold the same day it went on the lot for $29,900. They're still in pretty high demand, at least around here.
