tire diameters, front/rear

ok, well im tired of 1.8 60's. No matter what I do, I run 1.8's all the time, 40PSI, 20PSI, it doesnt matter.

Anyway, Ive been thinking of puttin ET Streets on the rear of they Ty, but then comes in the play of the t-case, I dont want to damage it.

For those who dont know, I run the ZR1's 275's in the front, 315's in the rear. The diameters are as follows:
275/40: 25.66"
315/35: 25.68"

ok, so the ET Streets come in the following size options:
26 x 10.5-15 with a 25.8" diameter
or
26 x 10.5-16 with a 25.9" diameter

My question is, will that .2-.3" change from front to rear damage the t-case? taking into account it will only be driven like that for the track.

Also, is anyone running the 335/35 rear tire?

Keep in mind that they're designed to run at a low psi and have a lot of flex, so that should at the least negate the increased diameter. Anyway I don't think that small of a difference would affect it. Also I wonder how well they'd work without doing a burnout.

How bad are you spining? fronts or rears?

you should be able to run low to mid 1.7's

what psi are you running?

Wes,

Why cant we do a burnout? I mean I cant do a full fledged smokey mess, but I can pin the rears quite easily from powerbraking out of the box.
I was thinking about the low inflation factor too.

SY732,

I dont feel like im spining that hard, but no matter what I do, i cant get past 1.8X.

My best run ever had a 1.840 60'

yesterday,
my 13.8 run had a 1.843 60' with 40 PSI in 315's
my 13.7 run had a 1.856 60' with 20 PSI in 315's (thats not a typo, lol)

if you are not spinning sticky tires will not help

sorry for missing that 20-40... 60' should get better near 38 fronts 28dr 26pr, if not I think thats more proof its not the tires.

what chip are you running? how much boost and timing do u see in 1st?
you can run a little more boost and timing in 1st and lean it out to get you out of the hole

have you put it on a wide band?

IMO doing a rwd burnout is easy but not needed and puts alot of stress on the xfer case.

My 60's with firestones were 1.73-1.78, 1.89 if I spun! I did clean them off (small burnout)
and with BFG's 1.71 no burnout, my truck would spin if I left with more than 2psi boost would go straght up to 20psi in 1st thanks to DIG and a stiff wg spring.

I think tonys best 60' 1.50 was with no burnout stock suspension BFG's
LOTS of hp and less tq down low

If u need to do a burnout roll through the water
bring up the boost and as soon as the rears start to go hold the gas and let the brake go, IMO if you floor it, truck gets out of hand and it is hard on the trans (1-2 shift)

i get 1.7x's with a 5-12psi lauch with nothing else i dont touch the tirs, just got 245's all round drive in make a pass and go home nice and easy. if i dont leave at at least 5 psi i get crap for 60' like 18-2.2

stock chip. boost, ehhhhhh, usually 5psi. timing, no clue. I cant lean it out anymore or the truck will probably not run, lol.

have you put it on a wide band?

ummm, no? lol, this isnt Chicago or something where people actually have cool equipment and people to help out.

true, but i need to get some of the water off the tires.

thats what I already do.

can you go around the water?

1.8's are good for the stock chip.

I have never lived in Chicago???

There are lots of people with WB02's If there is know one in your area that can tune it and you do not wish to learn/buy the crap, I would recomend Dig you send him diacom files and he will burn and send you chips in the mail, he can also socket your memcal if u need.

You can also buy a WB02 I think Mark L. aka buster has one for sale, I can check if you like.

At one of my local tracks, yes, at the other one, no.

i suppose so :-?

thats kinda what I was illuding to. there is nobody around me with that stuff.

even if i had one, I wouldnt know what to do with it.

I think im just gonna stick a big fat carb on my motor and be done with it all, lol

thanks for the help though, ill figure something out. I guess I should stick my other chip in and see what it does.

bigger tires/rims = more rolling resistance = need more power to move em

ummmmm, right dude. lol, im talking about 1/10th of an inch, get a clue.
well i was referring to weight. how much more do your tires and rims weigh over a stock setup? more weight at the wheels will slow you down a bit.
it was just a thought, maybe a stupid one. :drinking:

i dunno, maybe someone else knows, but I dont.

im sure the ZR1 setup weighs more than the stock setup, but Ill never get rid of them, stockers are WEAK.

As far as the ET Streets, I would probably pull the Weld Draglites off the El Camino, that combo alone cant really weigh more than a 17x11" wheel with 315s on them. Besides, the truck weighs 4050 pounds with me in it anyway, another pound or two wouldnt bother me in the least.

Wow thats nice having two tracks to choose from, Do you run better times at the one where u can go around the water?

I only ran a 1.79 once with the stock chip, put in any of the Dig chips and 1.71-1.75.

Look at Darrin's TY in IL Dig tuned it from Fargo ND and it ran 11.9 114 at Nats! with only basic mods and a 20G. Look at:
http://www.syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16350&highlight=10s+11s+12s
Dig did most of the tuning on 4 of them

If you do not want to go the Custom route (there are alot of guys out there, Dig is just the only one I know of that actively sells costom chips)try the ATR or ultimate see which one works best in your truck, lots of trucks in the 12's with both.

Sorry I think I must clarify Darrins Ty has more than basic mods, built engine, 20g turbo with garret internals the inlet is 3", 50# injectors, headers blah blah but I will say one thing his truck ran damn good and I am defiantly planning on giving dig a call when it comes time. now I just hope darrins combo runs as good in my Sy as his Ty  Sorry you are having so many problems Morgan I don't know you only from your posts and I say this for the community we would hate to see you go. Hope you get things straightened out good luck.

Ok nice 20g  and 50's but I do not think the headers are doing anything Mark L. tested with and without on his combo pte63 and sold them, he has since gone 11.0 and we all saw tony go 10's without headers.

lol, ALL I WANT IS BETTER TRACTION!

I think im gonna do it anyway, cause I really need a set of tires for the track, so im not buying a new set of 315's every year.

well if you do tires, I would consider the BFG's you may not be able to get the slicks hot enough. Plus they will last longer and you can drive with them as long as it does not rain or snow.

If you do hook be aware it may head for the wall, a few sy's have had that problem w/ bfg's and ets, I hooked once on the street and went accross a full lane, I saw peter do it at gb the 1st time he put the bfgs on It will be worse in a ty if it hooks.

I would start them at 35psi and keep going down to 15psi compare 60 and et as it will start to hurt the top end

you can try 1-3psi less in the pr too

let us know what happens

Morgan, you need to make more power, I was spinning hard and still running 1.65, and when it hooked it turned a 1.58. I'd recommend getting a granger valve and launch it really hard (10-15 psi), drop the rear tire pressure way down, might even whata try 12-15 psi, if you get really pissed off pull the front sway bar
