Traction or Looks?

I can't seem to find ZR1 17" x 11" anywhere. Everyone is all out and they will be in in about a month. I don't have a month. I just bought my Sy and am currently running on the original tires. Rather that getting new tires for the stock wheels, I want to get these wheels and new tires. My question is, ...

Will me putting 9.5" in the rear greatly affect traction or just appearance?

If I do put the 9.5" in the rear, should I put 17" x 8.5" in the front to get that fat rear tire look plus prevent the tire from rubbing?

What size tires should I go with if I do the 8.5's in the front?

Thanks for your help!

Wait for the 17x11's.

If you run the same size all the way around you are gonna have to deal with spacers as the offsets are different from front to rear.

If you are doing it - you might as well do it right. The 11's look KILLER from behind - which is the only thing people are goona see :)

Have you thought about other wheel options. There are a lot of different wheels out there that have to look good on our trucks too. How are we going to know what looks good if everyone has ZR-1s? :D Although they ARE rather inexpensive. If I could do it over again, I would go with something lighter than billet though. :banghead:

Good luck whatever your choice may be

If I do the 38mm offset w/ 6.7 backspacing (17 x 9.5), I need spacers?

I don't want to use spacers!

You should give Jim Longwith a call, not only is a forum member, but he sells ZR1's, and other wheels. I though his prices were pretty decent, JMO.

Check this out, http://syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8999&highlight=

BTW, if you were to use spacers or adaptors, forget which, and got the same size wheels all around you could rotate wheels front to rear, rear to front without taking off tires and no re-balancing. At least that's what I've been told, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

ZR-1 11" and Discount Tire

ZR-1 11" and Discount Tire

I took the AFS website package to my local Discount Tire, they matched the deal locally (within 60.00) and I have a local warranty. You might try it, worked for me and I now have 17x11s in the back, 17x9.5 in the front on the ole Typhoon.

Speaking of different wheels...

Speaking of different wheels...

Buying wheels this winter, and I was going to go with the Z06 wheels, (17in) original gray metallic finish. Im wondering if anyone else is using them, and if they have pictures posted? If not the Z06, ill probably go with the grandsports, but I havent seen them offered anywhere online, are they a dealer direct item?

TIA

OEC is telling me it will 3 more weeks before they get anymore 11" ZR1 wheels. I have two customers that have been on the waiting list for almost a month now. If you can hold out 3 more weeks I can get you a set at a good price.
