Trailblazer SS

A guy at work just wrote off his 2008 Trailblazer SS AWD, hit a deer. He bought it back, but is looking to part it out. I'm considering buying the engine (at the least) and maybe the transmission. I've basically got my pick of the parts.

Will the Syty transfercase fit on it the Transmission?? I know next to nothing about the 4L75E, other than it's a beefed up 4L60E. I know that some of the newer 4L60 have a different clocking on the tailshafts.

Can I use that transmission?

Re: Trailblazer SS

Or, upon looking at the undercarriage, could I not simply use the entire transmission, transfer case, etc, and just lengthen/shorten the propshafts?

I asked this a while back. Another menber said the transfer case would hit the floor of the truck. Aparently the transfer case is clocked different from the Sy/Ty. This of course is what I was told. I have by no means verified it myself.

Let us know what you find out if you do buy it.

Re: Trailblazer SS

I haven't seen anything with my own 2 eyes yet, but looking at pictures on tha interwebs, well, it looks like it may fit? I'm not sure.

Regardless, I pretty much have my pick of the stuff (unless he gets greedy), so I'll likely grab engine, trans, transfercase and prop shafts.

I think you'd need a 6-bolt to 4-bolt adapter. Similar to what Len or RPM sells for the 80E.

If you end up not wanting the engine let me know what you or he would want for it. Unfortunately we are in need.

Re: Trailblazer SS

I'm talking using the TBSS transfer case, and making new propshafts. It looks like it may fit, but am unsure.

Tytilidie, once he comes up with a price I'll let you know if I'm going for it or not. He's not mech inclined at all, so I'd be the one pulling it.

Re: Trailblazer SS

I've been wondering if the Trailblazer SS drivetrain would fit. There are a few in E Bay for sale.

Re: Trailblazer SS

Im pretty certain all that you would need to do to use the sy/ty parts is transfer the tail shaft housing from the 700R4 top the 4L60 we do it all the time on conversion cars. Also the sy/ty t-case and prop shafts are much stronger that the SS parts, the prop shaft on an SS is not a flanged style it is more like a late model half shaft and just "pop's" in which makes removal much more difficult as well
