Re: train horn

Too each their own but dont be suprised if you get a few tickets bofore you take it back off. If driving a lowered mini truck thats fast to isnt attention getting enough then throw a train horn or something similarly loud on it and youll get plenty of attention.

Preview of new found attention:

"Yes sir I have my lic and registration right here"
"No sir Im not driving a freight train"
"No sir I didnt know these horns were illegal"
"Oh, you mean theyre not technically illegal but they fall under the same laws as other annoyances and/or disturbing the piece?"
"Yes sir...I will take them off as soon as I get home and no sir you wont have to write me any more tickets for disturbing the piece if you see me again"

A few hours later:

"Cops suck/Im being harrassed/cops in this town blow/etc"

Just a thought :rotf:

Re: train horn

I wanted them for the dually for some reason a white 22 foot long 6,000 truck is invisible to most people? add a 28 foot enclsed trailer to the back and nobody can see it

Damn I knwo how you feel. When I am out landscaping, and have my trailer, people dotn see me either.

As for the initial question, I am going to do this sooner or later. I think it would be fun and who cares about a noise ticket. $60 is a smal price to pay to have a GREAT time.

Ok, I'll admit I entertained the thought of putting them on my dually for the very same reason but then I remembered that I have to practically beat the center of the steering wheel with my fist in just the right spot to get the factory horn to blow  . By the time I do all that Ive already had to take evasive action anyways to keep some rubber headed VA driver from hitting me. Basically it wouldnt do me any good since all I could do is honk the damn thing at them after they hit me

Oddly enough if I'm performing evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident, I typically don't have a free hand to hit the horn. I only manage to have the spare time if someone is giving me enough warning that they're about to do something really retarded.

Just find someone with VA plates and stay close to them...sooner or later theyll pull something stupid but you'll be ready. VA drivers are a text book case in multi-tasking at ~70mph though...talking on the cell phone (non hands free), putting on make up, adjusting the stereo, and reading the paper all at the same time? Childs play for the native VA driver  .

Ok, its not gonna get any warmer outside so I gotta get off here and go put ball joints on the beater 4wd since the inspection sticker ran out over a week ago  .

No need. From January until Easter the population around here doubles. All of it with blue hair. If you want bad drivers, come down here during snow bird season. The morning traffic report on television is normally not that bad, but come this time of year, there's more lights on the map than a Christmas tree.

I honestly wonder how some of them have made it this far in life without getting themselves killed. It would be interesting to graph the number of accidents by month and see the spike.

I know how you feel.. I was driving through SunCity today i was stopped at a green light while the left lane was just flying by. I couldn't see what was happening but i can only assume that it must have been a town car/ golf cart or a penny in the road that caused my delay.

Re: train horn

Exactly. I'm putting the airhorn on the truck not to go around and mess with people, but because it's the only way that some of the locals can HEAR my horn...

Re: train horn

Blue hairs have an excuse though...theyre old. The VA drivers I normally speak of are my age or therebouts. Whats even more scarey is when these same VA drivers become blue hairs...I followed a blue hair into town yesterday (store gave me the wrong ball joints  ) at 20mph the entire trip. No place to pass, ~10 cars between her and I, and I was driving the dually so there wasnt enough room to pull a quicky/illegal pass on double yellow without potentially causing a head on collision with oncoming traffic. God forbid if there would have been a penny in the road or we would have came to a screeching halt from our smokin fast 20mph  .
