trans pops into neutral while doing high psi boost launch

I did a couple of mild boost launches when I first got my Ty. I let my friend drive it, his second boost launch it went from drive to neutral. We both thought he bumped it. Later, I took a friend for a ride, stalled it up to about 13psi and it popped into neutral. Anyway, tranny seems great other than that. It shifts very firmly, doesn't slip at all. I've dealt with 700r4's alot and have never experienced this before. Any help would be appreciated.

might need to adjust the shifter cable down on the trans.

if you put it into park, does the truck roll?

Put a torque strap on the drivers side accry bracket down to the frame. It is a ratchet strap where you can tie the engine down and not allow it to torque over. I'll bet the drivers side motor mount is very floppy or broken.
This torque strap will limit the engine/trans/transfer case movement and it won't hop out of gear..
It'll also help in putting the torque into the driveline instead of soaking it up in twisting the motor
over to the pass side.
You'd be suprized how much it moves if you leave the hood open and torque it up..
I can't find a picture so I'll have to take one if you need it. Grrrrr...

There was a Tampa guy whose Sy was doing this. It was caused by a broken motor mount on the driver's side. Also check to see if your fan chewed up the upper fan shroud.

I had this same issue anything over 8 psi would pop the truck into neutral scared the hell out of me.. turned out that the range selector was getting bumped by the gilbert propshaft causing it to go into neutral.. the gilbert shaft is much larger in diameter so that was the cause.. I bent the range selector slight so there was no more touching but later on purchased a stainless steel pre bent one from Detroit turbo that was ment to be ran with the gilbert shaft. Haven't had the issue anymore and it's been over two years.

Thanks guys, I did get under and found the bolt to the seletor had been rubbing on the aftermarket prop. Just a slight bend of the bracket and no problems lauch'n at 15psi! Thanks guys.

My good friend was driving it with me the first time it happened. Scared us both, but at the moment it happened, I thought my tranny was toast! Second time was me doing it the next day, some reason somewhere above 5psi it was causing it.
Im very happy with this thing now. Ive fixed everything with it within a week of purchasing. Im already gathering the pieces for a new motor build. Had the vortecs already and purchase core short block for $25 this weekend.

better purchase an extra set of jack stands... when you mod these things people tend to have them on jack stands then on the ground lol
