I'm in the same boat Gabe except mine hasn't fully let go yet, but I've been through this enough times that I know it's about to let go. AGAIN!. I want to do the same thing -get it rebuilt- before it throws material into the torque converter. I also live in SoCal.

Your fuel gauge is still in my garage! lol! Who's local to us -like Torrance etc- that can rebuild it. I pulled a muscle in my leg otherwise I'd pull it out to send it out.

I called BowtieOD today and they recommended the 700R4 Level 2 which is cool because I was looking at that on their website at the same time, and this TC. I think I'm gonna go with that and do it myself once my leg gets better. Really tired of this hodgepodge transmission. I may keep the TC to save some money since it's not that old. It's a Hughes lockup unit that was put in on the last rebuild. Dunno but I DO like the idea of trans parts from one company.
I called BowtieOD today and they recommended the 700R4 Level 2 which is cool because I was looking at that on their website at the same time, and this TC. Add Lomita Transmission. They did the last rebuild on the Ty and my Mustang both of which didn't hold worth a damn!

X2, Waller 700 all the way. I had a new build from John and broke the planetary gear at the track when the truck spun hard and hooked. He removed the trans at his shop and fixed it. I paid for an upgraded planetary gear, that's it. :2cents:

I should have been more specific. I meant I would buy a new TC and Trans and let the shop down the street pull out the old and put it in the trunk and put in the new. So I'd keep the original for shits-n-giggles and I would have a new Trans and matching TC. I just don't want to pull my leg muscle anymore, and I don't want the Ty to sit for too long waiting for a new trans. I've done that before

Oh yea. lol. I've known the guy -manager- that works there for years and -if the same mechanic is there- I've known the mechanics friend for years so he kinda knows me. The mechanic that worked there before was the only guy I'd trust to work on my cars in the 90's and this mechanic was his helper now a pro. The other mechanic is now a Biomedical engineer at Kaiser in OC. Good honest people. I've only gone there these years to dump used oil and once to have him -newer mechanic- replace the shocks on the Ty. Actually there is a shop closer to me -5min walk- that I wouldn't drop off a used Honda at. Those downs syndrome cock-goblins put garbage shocks on the Ty when wanted to put Bilsteins like my other Ty. That was AFTER the good mech. put in Monomax's that I bought. No more "recommendations" for me when I already know it's good in one Ty. They also did a number on the suspension. Eh...nuff said, they suck like most mechanics.
Anyways, the one I would take it to is pretty cool and can be trusted. Fair price and clean fast work. I just have to ask to see if they would since they don't like to install something they didn't order themselves = Monomax's that I bought lol. Now I have Bilsteins that I bought waiting to get installed Phaha!

I just had a Typhoon trans and a PG done at Mikes Transmissions in Lancaster. I am pretty picky and was very happy and impressed with their work. Check out their website and info for anyone in CA needing an AT built. This is a no bullshit shop thats been around since the 60's. They test each trans before it leaves too. Taking him one of my other Syclones trans this fall.
