Turbo Died

Well, after a both good times and bad, my turbo has finally had it. I blew the bearing.

Now what to do?

Would it be better to rebuild or find a new bolt-on replacement?

I would like to get a nice boost in performance now that I'm forced to do something to the turbo. But I don't want to deal with anything but the turbo and exhaust(I've needed new pipes for a while now). I don't need the expense of a TC or chipping.

I wasn't anticipating this to fail quite yet, so I have a fairly limited budget. I'm hoping I can find a way to kill two birds with one stone. New exhaust and lightly upgraded turbo.

Re: Turbo Died

for good upgrade above stock you should hit up jwaller.
but if you also want to upgrade downpipe, your talking going down a road you might not want to.
my opinion, unless you want a very big upgrade, stick with the bolt-on turbos and keep stock downpipe. quite a few of the vendors have hybrid bolt-ons that look real nice, and they should work with stock injectors, boost control, and lines.

Re: Turbo Died

Well, after a bit of searching (and a bit of time to let the fact that I have to spend a healthy handful of cash has sunk in). I've found what seems to be a good solution.

Replace the turbo with the RPM bolt-on Stg1, and while I'm at it get the RPM 3" Cat back.

All seems well, and Race Proven seems to be a reputable place. So does anyone see a flaw with my plan, any better options or complaints/caution about them.

Thanks.
