Ty headliner replacement started

The headliner was really sagging in my Ty and the sunroof does not work. I decided to replace the headliner and repair or replace the sunroof while the headliner was out. Today I went out and removed the headliner. Its not that hard to get out but it sure is a mess. I would suggest if anyone doing this cover your seats with a old bed sheet or something. I don't know if all Ty's are like this or not but there were two boards that the headliner was attached to. In the rear a square board and in front one shaped like a U. The sunroof in the open area of the U. I think that I will go to a interior shop and see if they can get one board and put the new headliner on and just cut out for the sunroof. I think that would be much easier to put back in the truck. Has any one replaced there headliner in a Ty with a sunroof? If so how did you do yours?

Re: Ty headliner replacement started

Worked on the Typhoon headliner today. I went to the pull a part and found a s-10 blazer that had a good headliner board. Also the interior trim pieces are Ty color, so I took of a few spare parts. Great deal only $21 for all the parts. I took the headliner board to a guy that is going to modify it for my sunroof and recover it. We will see how that goes. Oh ya I also got the sunroof repaired. The only thing wrong was the power wire had been disconnected. I hooked it back up the the sunroof works great.

Cool. Your interior will pretty much look perfect with the new headliner.
Must be nice.....
