typhoon as a daily driver-(GAS MILEAGE QUESTION)

was contenplating getting a extra ty as a daily driver.

was wondering what most people have gotten for mileage, city and highway.

i know, i know...these trucks are not known for there mileage (i have a sy, that sucks fuel)

just wondering if i can get 18 out of it??

I get around 14 mpg on average.16 if I keep my foot out of it.

Mixed I usually get 13-14mpg. It doesn't make much off difference between a Sy or Ty. On the highway I have gotten 19-20mpg if I am easy on the gas.

I've gotten 18-19 cruising highway, 12 city. Sometimes worse... my combined has been around 13 since it got cold (although I have been driving it pretty hard)

When I was daily driving mine, I was right in that same range. Of course, my Ty is mostly stock... I think the best I ever did was 22 highway. :tup:

i kept up on the tune up and had a broken front shaft and was getting 22 on the highway, never checked around town

19 if I'm nice to it (no boost), 16 daily, 12 if I have fun with it. I got 24 in my Sy when I was driving it home the first time (ZERO boost, 400 highway miles, some downhill)

I drive the shit out of mine daily (milage wise) and can regularly get 17 MPG. I've seen 18-20 or so on long highway trips too. I am approaching 140K or just over 65K in 37 months or about 1800 a month. The milage is going down as I've moved way closer to work. It'll stay reliable as long as you stay close to stock and you drive it, not race it each and every light.

this is what i want to hear!!.....

i am selling my 2000 silverado x-cab z71 because im sick of the mileage.

i really miss my 4 door jimmy!!! 18 mpg no matter what.

i always thought i would feel guilty driving one of these trucks year-round, because of all the salt, and the rareity of them, but with so many people parting good trucks out,and the price being so cheap on them now, i might as well pick up a ty and drive the snot out of it and keep it stock....(yeah right, have you seen my sy??):rotf: :rotf:

on the wrench-fest, i love having these, and figuring out other people's problems... must be a sickness that i have.

My sy when i drove it as my DD, i got like around 180 miles to just a little under half, witch was like 12gal. That is without hitting on it at all.

When mine was running and coming back from ga back in 05(?). With 50lb injectors, my PTE60-1, 2800 stall, and boost set at 18 psi I avg'd 24mpg highway. City I was around 15.


Its all in the tune. Thank Hood for those numbers. And my truck wasn't performance tuned yet. And still ran 12.3.

Im around 12-13. No matter what. I plan on trying to tune more and try to get 15-17 but thats just a dream as of now.

the only way i could buy your's is to do an even swap. i cant go into debt anymore than i am, and 10,500 is about the lowest i could go on my silverado anyways.

I DD my Ty, and its not to bad on gas. Comfy, quick, and is good in bad weather. My dad is going to fix the Sy for his DD (working on contacting your guy SS). Very liveable trucks.

Remember to yank the ECM B fuse if you plan on parking in a sketchy area, I just got in from doing so.

I have been driven my truck to work at 55-60 and i am going to see what i get but i rarly get over 15 i think alot of that is my right foot
