The key is MT drag radials, I want to see one do that on regular radials that you can drive every day. GN's have more potential at the track.

i know that the DR's are the main factor, but if you think about by the time i've got to the line, put it in N, reved a few times, put back in drive, built boost, he is staged and waiting for the green too. when he still had radials it was a total turd, then i convinced him that it did'nt matter if he had 40lbs of boost i would still spank his ass (he's a strip noob) soooo i guess it's my fault he is faster than me now

Hey guys, I wasnt trying to offend anyone, I thought it was common knowledge that AWD drive cars are slowed down froma roll. Anyways It has all the bolt on except heads and cam, CPT61BB, HUGE FM IC and all the other supporting mods. OH and with DRs and a trans brake, the car launches pretty damn hard......thanks for the help, I think I am keeping the regal
A stock turbo Ty is a dog from a roll, but one with a decent turbo/fueling pulls like a freight train till the speedo is bouncing off the peg. :2cents:

I don't have nearly the experience with the Ty a lot of the guys on the site do seeing as I've only had mine for about 8 months now. However I have done a couple of runs from a roll with some decent competition and not faired all that badly.

One of my earliest runs was on the freeway against a mid 90's BMW M3. We ran from probably 70mph all the way up to 120mph when I topped out and he didn't pull an inch on me until I hit 100mph. He started to ease out on me then and when I topped out he just walked away but until then we were nose to nose.

I did a similar run a couple of months ago with a Mazda Speed 6 and got similar results but this time I pulled out on him by a length or two before he realed me in and walked buy. We ran 3 times and got the same result each time. I'm pretty sure neither of those cars were modded at all but they are still tauted as performance cars in their respective classes and the Speed 6 was brand new.

I've yet to be destroyed from a roll even though I keep hearing that the SyTy's are not good from a roll. I suppose it will happen once I run into someone with decent mods but so far I've done pretty well. Of course I do recognize that they Ty is much, much better from a dig. That goes almost without saying. I'm still amazed by how it launches, especially on a nice, chilly morning.

I'd still like to have a GN sitting next to the Ty in my garage though.

2 of the worlds biggest sleepers haha

Exactly!!

I see two GN's on a regulare basis. There's a guy up in the Beacon Hill area who has a beautiful GN with a nice set of chrome 17 or 18" rims. Spotless I tell you!

The other I see pretty often over in West Seattle in a parking lot. I guess the person who owns it works at one of the resturants there. Not nearly as clean but still nice. I may leave em a note asking if they'de be willing to sell it.

i beg to differ bout a gn launcing hard, my buddy has an 87 with VERY minor bolt-on with the boost turned up to @19lbs and i pulled a 1.68 in his car with a on mt drag radials, my best is a 1.800 on reg street radials, the gn has BONE STOCK suspension too, 300$ for DR's is better than a $400 propshaft

So, what did a bone stock GN or Turbo regal do the 60' in w/stock original tires?
I doubt a 1.8
