Under hood insulation

As many of you are aware, I have been under extreme emotional distress over the under hood insulation on my Ty. I decided to pull the trigger and buy an Ebay piece:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-1993-C...D-W-CLIPS-FIBERGLASS-S-10-CHEVY-/222075019288

I figured for $50 what the hell, might as well give it a shot.

It arrived in good nick, and the first thing I did was verify that the panel was not flammable. I did this buy taking one of the drops from the installation holes, and tried to light it on fire with a lighter. It did not burn. With that done I was still not to fond of the "tiger stripe" look of it.

So I painted it black with some "high heat" flat black paint and put it on. All of the pre-punched holes lined up and it went on pretty easy:

The fit is not perfect, but it is better than none at all. It is a thick pad, and I can tell by having to add extra force to close the hood, but I have let it sit all day today with the hood closed, and it seems like the pad is starting to conform to its new home.

Is this your bush?
Re: Under hood insulation

Do people really want these? If you look into the holy motherload section....I'd say there is at least 20+ s10 trucks and blazers with these left in them. Now that you reminded me Randy....I'm going to head out there and see if I can get some Diamonds in the rough!

Update: I removed the insulation panel due to it's thickness. It was rubbing on the intercooler fill cap and the a/c condenser. Do not buy this product. If anyone has a stock, good condition, insulation panel they are willing to part with, let me know.
