As many of you are aware, I have been under extreme emotional distress over the under hood insulation on my Ty. I decided to pull the trigger and buy an Ebay piece:

I figured for $50 what the hell, might as well give it a shot.
It arrived in good nick, and the first thing I did was verify that the panel was not flammable. I did this buy taking one of the drops from the installation holes, and tried to light it on fire with a lighter. It did not burn. With that done I was still not to fond of the "tiger stripe" look of it.
So I painted it black with some "high heat" flat black paint and put it on. All of the pre-punched holes lined up and it went on pretty easy:
The fit is not perfect, but it is better than none at all. It is a thick pad, and I can tell by having to add extra force to close the hood, but I have let it sit all day today with the hood closed, and it seems like the pad is starting to conform to its new home.
