wastegate adjustment

adjusted the wastegate couple of questions
1- is the gate supose to be free
2- datamaster shows boost tgt psig at 6.5 at idle
does this mean i screwed the rod out to much?

1- yes i believe you should be able to move the gate freely (with rod detached)

2- 6.5 target psi at idle is normal

3- no

i scrwed it out 6 rotations

A good place to start is to adjust the rod so that 7/8 of the pin shows through the hole with no pressure on the actuator.

This means you should not be able to slide the rod right on the pin.
You should have to slightly pull toward the rear of the truck to get it started.
Too tight and you will overboost or experience boost creep.
Too loose and the gate doesn't close tightly and you don't build solid boost, or experience boost lag.

On a stock truck I adjust it until it overboosts then back it off until it doesn't. :wink:
