Went to Track today

alright i went out to the track today in hopes of running sub 13's and i would have but my god damn tcc got really messed up and started slipping badly. I was getting some of my best 60' times ever. and it was running great until the tcc would lockup then it would bog down and slow me way down. My truck was running great with the exception of the tcc. I ran a 13.352 @ 98.96 on only 15-16lbs of boost but my tcc locked fine at 70 mph. That was my first run of the day. Then i dialed my boost up to 18lbs and i had my best 60' of 1.825 and then my tcc slipped up about 4 times (this was with the A to F connection) I am confident that my truck will run a 12.99 or better if it were not for my tcc. Well that is about it.

I was curious about what torque converter you guys would recommend for my situation. I am basically stock right now with the basic reliabily mods but i am considering a bigger turbo.

Since you're planning on replacing the TC you might as well go with one that has a 3000 stall or at least around that, if you plan on getting a larger turbo in the future. Of course this all depends on what turbo you plan on getting. Either way, a higher stall converter will help you out. I ran with a 3000 stall for about 6 months before I put the PTE kit in and the spool up was great, well instant with the stock turbo. So I would suggest any good quality converters around 3k stall. I'm not going to get into the who makes what discussion and how well it does, but I have a TCS TC and I have had no problem yet. HTH

Don't you think a 3k stall is a little big for his application? Unless he plans on upgrading turbo right away? Mabey go 2600?

Stock stall is about 2100 give or take. Mabey a little lower for you, Ty's had lower stall than Sy, but it was a minimal difference, like 100-150 rpm.

No I don't , I drove on around with a 3K stall, with a stock turbo, for about 7 months with mine and spool up was instant. I was planning on getting the PTE sometime and since my tranny went I just figured might as well go with one the I can actually use in the future. I had instant spool-up and the mileage wasn't affected s ince the lockup is all controled at the ECM
