Where are you buying engine parts in Ontario?

I was just wondering where you guys that are located in Ontario, Canada are buying parts for your engines. I just purchased an 88' Blazer dressed as a Typhoon with a 92' Ty drivetrain, (some of you up around Barrie may have seen it as that is the area I bought it from) and I'm planning on using the engine to put in my 95' S10 Blazer 2dr, 2wd. I had to pull the fuel rail off as the port that a fuel pressure gauge would screw on to broke off. In order to do so, I had to pull the upper intake plenum off and now I'm looking for the plenum gasket, throttle body gasket and injector 'O' rings. I have called the local GM dealer and he says the intake gasket is discountinued and I have tried Napa which they said the same thing. I'm just wondering if you guys deal locally when getting engine parts or if you just order parts over the net and have them shipped cross border? Any help in this matter would be great.

little too far from the border. I ship all my stuff to a Mail/Package place just on the other side of the border and go pick it up. Just 13% taxes and you are good to go.

So you are the one that bought that eh, I tried getting ahold of that guy, but he didn't seem to want to talk to me. What are you doing with the rest of the truck?

The engine gaskets are available, I got mine through NAPA, just ask them for the Victor Rienz gaskets, they are listed(hope I spelled that right). I know you can't get lower intake gaskets anymore, but the rest should still be available. At the time I bought the complete kit, came with everything.

If you have no luck there, get ahold of Hood on here, Hood Tuned, he can get them I'm sure and ship them to you.

I looked at this truck a few times, Owner seemed very sketchy. It had the "turbonetics" turbo setup on it correct? black on black cladding? has aftermarket headers that run through the inner fender and the crossover header pipe runs just under the front bumper?

If this is the same truck....just be sure that its not a real typhoon. I think it was at some point and revinned as a 88blazer. Its too clean and original to be a clone in my opinion.

Post up some pictures, what are you doing with the rest of the truck. I'd be interested in it as a whole if your planning on selling it.

If what the other guys told you about finding for your truck dont work, get ahold of Sportmachines on here (Tom) there located located outside of Rochester NY and they will be able to help you track down or sell you any syty part you need.

Yes that is the exact truck. I agree with you that the truck seems sketchy to me and the guy that I bought it from didn't seem to know much about it at all. I brought this to his attention when I went to buy it, but he was unsure himself if it was re-vinned or not. The truck was imported from the states back in 96' as an 88' Blazer, but I'm not sure what drivetrain was in it at that time. It is possible that it is a re-vinned truck, but I was more so after it for the engine myself, so I didn't really care too much. I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with the body when I'm done pulling the engine and stuff out. But when I put it up on my hoist to look it over, it appears to be in amazing shape especially if it is an 88' Blazer. The floors, body mounts, inner and outer rockers are in near mint shape, and I hate throwing that word around, but these are very troublesome spots on 1st Generation S10 Blazers and Jimmy's and they are extremely solid on this thing. The only spot that I saw that had rust on it was the right rear quarter panel behind the tire. But I haven't pulled the cladding off yet to look under all that. But I may just keep the body and store it after I'm done to keep for a later date. We'll see.

As for Napa, I tried them and the guy said the supplier can no longer get those gaskets. I have a call into another parts supplier here and gave him the part numbers I found on Hoodtuned.com and he said they were good numbers, and he should be able to get them, but they will have to come from the States as well, but he is gonna call me back to let me know for sure.

Well if you plan on getting rid of the truck, I would be interested too.
Easiest way to tell if it's a 88 or just re-vin'd would be the rear seat belts, if it has shoulder belts it's definitely not an 88, and most people won't go to the work to put them in.

Let us know how you make out with the gaskets, and with the project for that matter.

And I agree, that guy you bought it from seemed very sketchy, he had no idea what he had, and had no clue how to make it run right too.

Well....Actually.....my cousin had an '88 Blazer he bought new, it had the 4.3 and the rear shoulder belts. My brothers '88 with the 2.8 had lap belts. i'm not sure if it was a half year or not, i have seen a couple of '89s with the lap belts too.....

I have seen your truck, around a couple of shops here in town. The old owner would not call me back when I tried to get in touch with him. The front right corner of that truck was smucked at one point. That's how I've seen it about 1 1/2 years
ago.

That's odd, I have never seen anything older than 91 with the shoulder belts in the rear, hmmmmm.

I order SYTY parts from the states. I've never ordered from Sportmachines, but I should. They seem to have almost everything you could want or need. They are good people!

I think I will just have to order things from the States. Non of the parts supplies here can seem to get me the upper plenum gasket. They are all saying it is a good number in their system but can't get them.

As for the truck, won't there be a vin somewhere else on the body that would tell me what it is? The only one left that I can see is the one in behind the windshield. The sticker on the door is gone and the one inside the glove box was ripped off. Which those signs lead me to believe it has been re-vinned. But I was hoping that there might be one on the firewall in the engine bay or something that I would see after I pull the Engine out.

Well if its an original engine, the last 8 of the vin will be stamped on it. There is also a spot on the frame somewhere, I believe right rear above axle that is supposed to be stamped as well.

Yup! The truck has been at (at least) 3 of our customers shops in the area to have work done. 1 shop was talking to him, and asked him, to contact me. I even told the guy to give me a call, which he never did.
