wieseco forged pistons

I am in the process of doing a build on a ty engine and it was recommended to me to try ou the wieseco piston. Reason being is that the dish is deeper thus icreasing the compression to 9.1 to 1 instead of 8.5 to 1. This allows the turbo to spool up more quickr and also makes the engine more reliable and run better more smoother .
Any comments?
Or suggestions?
thanks,
jim

Re: wieseco forged pistons

a deeper dish will yield a lower compression, not higher..

A higher compression will yield a crisper throttle response, and make more power however there is a limit to how much boost you can run with increased static compresion and lower octane (ie 91/93).

8.5 - 9:1 is common but make sure to measure your cylinder head cc, deck height, gasket thickness etc before you order pistons that will raise your compression even higher.

Go the 9:1's on a street / mid high performance build. You'll like it.

Wiesco, JE, Ross, CP all make nice pistons with various specs. TRW is a heavier cast piston , which is a step below the previously mentioned brands.
