Worst case scenario...

What is the worst thing that can happen to one of these trucks(sy/ty) if something goes wrong. I'm not talking about blown tranny or engine, but what else is there and what is the average price to get it fixed?

Re: Worst case scenario...

Aside from drivetrain failure I'd have to say cladding damage. Cladding is unique to these trucks which makes it costly to replace. The cost will vary depending on if you go with OE, new or used, or fiberglass. Ofcourse, there's always theft. The cost needs no explanation.

Having it get stolen and not having insurance.

If you have insurance it can be one of the best things.

What do you mean by OE? And costly do you mean $500 or $1500? Are they easy to come by or do you have to look really hard? Oh yeah...I'll definitely have insurance...Any other biggies I should be concerned with?

Re: Worst case scenario...

Some of the more common problems are:
-heater core leakage
-engine problems (ignition, ic pump, bent rods/pistons)
-transmission failures,
-bent wheels, steering issues, crossmember damages, motor mount breakage
-alignment issues, wandering
-turbo boost adjustment, wastegate issues
-fuel pressure/fuel pump, fuel filter issues
-heat soaking, high IAT or MAT temps
-Cladding damage
-propshaft issues
-bouncing Typhoon rear seat, rear wiper and/or rear window leakage/squeaking
-failing state emmissions with clogged/missing cat
-broken/cracked exhaust manifolds
-and if your SyTy is lowered, you may have load leveler, bounce stop, non-centered rear wheels,
or short turning radius/rubbing

Some folks even have overboost or noise issues inside their vehicles (like a Typhoon
that reverb`s sound noise) when they delete cats.

Hopefully you know that many trucks have knock probs....other than the engine going south.

prof shaft boom and takes out tranny and other stuff under there.

RUST!!! That can add up quickly if you have a shop do it. I just got quoted like 900 for a place to fab up some body mounts for the left and right side behind the front wheel and replace the drivers side floor pan. Then of course undercoating and stuff. Rust repair adds up quickly and a lot of these trucks are from the East Coast.

It could end up killing you and others on the road if you lose control of it somehow. I don't think there's a worse scenario than that.
