I Agree with you dave, I think the geometry is off. The valve does not really look weak. I know that is not a real indicator but usually you see some disturbance in the grain.
There is marks on the pistons we looked,but that does not mean it is not close.Once the heads are back, we will cycle the motor to make sure the geometry is not bad
