Zero two sixty rebuild

I figured I'd start a thread to post pictures, ask a million questions, and just to show off my rebuild of my Syclone. I know it was a big help and good motivation for my SAS project a few years ago on another forum. I'm a little long winded, so feel free to skip around and just look at the pictures. I'm guilty of it myself.

I bought the truck in late 2006. Bone stock, I am the third owner. It was hurt and I think the guy knew it when he sold it. It ran good on the test drive and got progressively worse/louder as time went on. A piston had broken at the ring land and was hitting the head. All of the rods were slightly bent. I'm probably an idiot for missing it in the test drive, lesson learned. I dont have any pictures of it new...

On trailer going for rebuild #1

I had a semi local place do the rebuild. We started off just studding the bottom end, H beams, pistons, and a tune. My job sent me overseas mid build and I decided to change directions and spend some money. I ended up with a RPM 66mm turbo kit, A2A intercooler, cam, ported vortec heads, and an alkycontrol setup. I also had a 3200 stall.

The truck ran good for a few months. It had a good baseline tune, no knock, no weird stuff. I drove it back an fourth to work a few times and around town. Took it to the track twice. Never could get the turbo to light at the track, but it ran low 13's at 115mph, coming alive at 1000'. It was a rocket on the streets. I suspect the wheel spin helped with boost building. Started seeing hearing noises. Started seeing knock on the datamaster. Not much, but some. Found the source of the sound, a heat shield on the passenger floor. Running around logging after fixing the heat shield the motor let go. Maybe 3/4 throttle. Alcohol on, wastgate set to 10psi. Loud bang then silence. Coasted into a quickstop and saw oil coming out the pan. Followed by coolant. Great. Loaded her up, brought her home, and she sat for a few years.

We pulled the motor a year and a half ago. Everything in the bottom end was trash. The rotating assembly hit the front diff, although I'm not sure it would have turned much more anyway. The crank came out in three pieces.

The plan? Sit around and wait for a deal. Semi local. So I waited. And Waited. Then... Success. I had the cash and a nicely built one showed up in texas. Syclone#2960 had it. After some planning I was able to get down there to check it out. I'm skeptical about buying used parts, but after seeing how nice Bruce and all of his projects were I'm not afraid of the purchase. We could have listened to him all day. Nice guy, nice place. They were still polishing on the intake after we loaded it up!

The plan? Inventory everything I have. I need rockers and some gaskets so far. Figure out how to plumb the RPM sheetmetal plenum, and remember where everything goes! I'm also going to have the trans built and finally put my aftermarket front shaft and driveshaft hoop in. I would also like to replace the hood with a small cowl. This one isnt origional to the truck and has hail damage. I need a new front marker light, I think I like the look of the clear ones so I may change them all. One of the rear bed cladding corners cracked while sitting, I'll replace that at some point as well.

Questions:

Does someone still make the shift cable bracket to clear the bigger propshaft?
Does anyone have any pictures of the RPM intake plumbing. I took a few of Bruce's typhoon with my phone and they came out horrible.
And Bruce, if you see this before I remember to text you, what rockers did you run again?

Sportmachines sells the shift bracket. Out of curiosity, do you know what happened to the engine that it bent everything and broke the crank?

All I can do is speculate. I remember reading about a bad run of oil pumps around the time I built mine, and I suspected this to be the case until we tore it down. There was no real signs of starvation. Best I could work out was the crank was weak. The original rods all had a slight bend to them. There's no telling what kind of life this truck lived before I got it. The front diff had a mount snapped off and there was a manual boost controller on it.
