ZR1 wheels & wheel studs

I already did tons of searching and came up with all the part numbers and specs for stock and longer wheel studs. I was just wondering is everyone who is running ZR1 wheels also running longer wheel studs? On the front my stock studs only come up to about half of the threaded portion of our stock lugnuts on my Sy. Way unsafe IMO, I guess that I didn't realize that in addition to cutting the axles down and possibly grinding some of the control arms, I also have to swap wheel studs for wheels that supposably "fit".

I had to put longer studs in when I switched to the ZR1 wheels. I know the front needed them - I can't remember if the back did too.

I have put zr1 wheels on both my Ty & two Syclones and NEVER had to change wheel studs. I also own a zr1 that has the same lenth GM studs as a sy or ty.

X4 for not changing the studs. I don't have my sawblades on my truck at the moment but I did a test fit after I got them. I took these pics so that I knew about how much room that I had to work with when I CNC a set of centercaps...

This is the 17 X 9.5 front:

You can see that the studs stop where the threads stop. Do you have "real" vette wheels or knock offs?

The front picture is exactly how mine look, only I have a GS wheels. Supposably the wheel stud with these type of lugnuts should extend past the threads of the lugnuts by at least 2 threads. They are "real" ZR1's, and I'm not running any spacers. The problem seems to be only with the front studs. Safety inspections at the track even call for 1/2 inch of stud minimum past the last thread of the lugnut.

I have zr1s on my Sy and normal vette wheels on my ty.. No wheel studs needed. Not sure what your prob is but insinuating we are all assholes for saying they "fit" gets me all hemorrhoidal.

Aside from your stud issues, the other modifications are pretty well documented.

on my sy, my c6 zo6 wheels require a longer stud. back was fine. they are knock-offs but i think that my old hubs had shorter studs.new ones are longer.

That's definitely not what I was trying to say. By "fit" i meant I have the correct offset of 56/50 for 9.5" and 11" wheels. A quick search showed me the correct offset to purchase, but it wasn't until I accidentally stumbled across other posted problems did I find out that axle shafts had to be cut down and possibly control arms (nothing I can't handle). In looking deeper into this there were a few posts of members also having to install longer wheel studs. A test fit showed me that even when fully torqued to 100 ft lbs I don't have enough thread engagement. I'm still a noob, only had the Sy for a little over a year. I used the search function to avoid being slammed like this for asking questions that have already been answered hundreds of times, and yet it still happened. I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just needed some info to cure my ignorance.

Any chance you will be selling CNC'd centercaps? That would be sweet!

"supposedly fit" got me. Sounds like he was saying the board said they would fit and they don't. Not a thing tho; he explained, my hemorrhoids are not inflamed any longer lol

For what its worth, I have drag raced my truck with the zr-1s at a good number of tracks and never once was challenged regarding wheel stud length. One thing to consider might be wheel nut length. I have a few in my parts bin that are just like stockers but a tad longer. Maybe the OP has "long nuts" ?

I understand your concern about the studs, but where's your concern about grinding the A-arms? I'll bet 95% of A-arms are clearanced at static ride height. We don't park that way. One turn on a roll curb, hill or driveway... instant :doh: IMO, grinding moving suspension parts = :screwy:

The rear is pretty close but the front comes up a bit short.

I understand your concern about the studs, but where's your concern about grinding the A-arms?

Good point, I haven't done it yet, so I'll see how much material needs to be removed and go from there. Maybe I can get away with extending the steering stops a little rather than cutting down the arms.

To follow up with my earlier statement about lug nuts:

The wheel nuts I have are on my truck are on the bottom (shorter version), and they tighten down on zr1 wheels with a little excess stud past the nut threads. I tried the longer nut and it tightens down to where there are a few nut threads exposed...
