A/C Removal Help

phoonTy

Truckless. For now.
Since I'm really trying to make my truck a weekend cruiser instead of a daily driver, I've decided to pull the A/C to clean up the engine bay, and my blower motor didn't work for about a year (until I finally found the loose ground) so I got used to not having it.

Long story short, I have everything loosened at the firewall, the A/C box is loose etc. By loosening the rest at the radiator side, I should be able to pull everything out as one unit, correct? On the radiator side, there's just a small cooler held in by a restraining strap, correct? Anything else I need to watch for, loosen, etc. to get it out easily?

Thanks for the help!

oh, one more question, the lines running under the box, but not into the box, into the cabin are the coolent lines into the heater core correct? they run through a hole in the box and i'd rather not cut it, incase i fell like returning everything to stock and having it look untouched.

now, thanks for the help.

I wasn't able to yank it all as one because the two coolent lines you mentioned that run to the heater core actually go thru a whole in that ac heater box so I had to seperate the box to get everything over those two lines and out. Maybe different for you not sure but I would say you'd have to split the box if I remember right.

In order to get the ac condenser out I had to undo the stock trans cooler lines from the radiator and lift up the radiator enough to pull the condenser out. I didn't want to have to disconnect the oil cooler lines (driver side lines) at all so I just lifted the rad up and had someone hold it while I unbolted and yanked the condenser.

Wierd, mine came out as one unit. I didnt have to cut anything. I will say that removing the fender makes it much easier. And yes, those are the heater core lines. You dont want to even move them.

Re: A/C Removal Help

I've already got the fender well out, and had started to separate the a/c box, so I'll go ahead and do that. For some reason, my radiator is pretty loose (fan shroud is off) so I'll just have my wife hold it up as I loosen things up.

Looks like I was basically there, that's good to know.

And yeah, I don't plan on messing with the heater core lines. I had to do that on my old Jimmy... not fun!

Thanks for the help!
