Black List??

Has anyone considered a black list for people who are traveling? That way if you have a problem you can check the list for someone in the area you broke down in for help. List people by State and City or County.

its been talked about, but the major problem is people not wanting to post private information in a public place.

I had this same thought just the other day. When I got to thinking about who would be around me if I was to break down on the trip home with the Sy.

But, I'm stopping at a few people's house's along the way. Jimmy being one of them, and he's a little less then my half way point on my trip, so if nothing goes wrong by the time I get to his place, I dont see anything will. (unless I drive it like a bat out of hell the rest of the way. )

Maybe this is something we could incorporate in the Donator's lounge.
And make it by request only so that it is not publicly posted 100% of the time.

A mod or admin would have to supply the info as it was requested.

What if we created a 1-800 number? (Serious Question) It could go to one of those prepaid cell phones. The person carrying it would be responsible for a database of numbers?

Just a thought.

becuase that costs money. makes more sense just to make an online database...and you have to be say a donating member to have access to it or something. who wants to get a phone call every day (since the trucks do break that much)

Well, you also have to think that if someone breaks down or something, whether they are in a SyTy or not is beside the point, they are not exactly gonna have an internet connection to use.

Last time this topic came up I mentioned this, just like someone mentioned above, but if youre going on a trip, figure out who is in the area youre going to or on the way, PM them and get their info personally. I did that when I went to Florida in 2002 and it worked out awesome.

Now you cant always plan out your trips, and honestly I dont even have many people from NASTE in my cell phone, but Ive actually had more SyTy people call me from out of state asking me if I had "so-and-so's" number out in (insert state here) because they were in the area and either had car problems, wanted to grab lunch with them, meet them, whatever the reason was.
If I actually had the persons number id give it to them as long as I knew the other person would be cool with it, or I happen to have access to a computer at the time I would try and find the info for them, sometimes I could get in touch with the person, sometimes I couldnt.

I have no objections to the idea, other than the fact that A. someone has to do it B. it will require work to say the least C. people are going to have to list private information on the net (not that most people cant find it some other way) D. and we still need to figure out a way to make it accessable / useful.

I think it would be a good idea if you'd get your most local syty friend on this board's number when you go on a trip. If something goes wrong, call that person. Have them post a thread on here asking for help for you, and what state/road/mile marker what ever your at and the time. Would be alot cheaper then the phone thing. And if you have to wait a hour longer, so what, better then calling a flat bed to come and get you and toe your truck to a shop that knows nothing about them. :dunno:

I am willing to do all of this. It wouldn't take a shitload of effort for me to create this. Only people willing to share their info would be able to get access to it. I could just set it up on my website at like www.michaelrenz.com/sytypeeps/ or something similarly cheesy.

 or  ?

When I was trying to push this idea before, it would break down (no pun intended

) kind of like this. My mom does this for an Olds site, and I thought it was a good idea.

1. You join through the site.
2. Somebody has to step up and be willing to deal with the info submitted and be the 24 hour "help guy".
3. Once you register through the site, you are contacted by the volunteer "help guy", and they take your info, and you take the "help guys".
4. The "help guy" enters your info into his personal book which contains all of the other people too. The info would not be known by anyone but the "help guy". It would not be public as you would have to be in need of assistance and call the "help" to get others info. You keep the help guys info in your wallet, SyTy or wherever.

If you join, you have to be willing to accept getting a call at any hour of the day from SyTy members. If it's not possible, you don't have to help them, but you do have to accept the fact you will get the call if need be.

So the "help guy" would recieve your information personally through e-mail or site PM. He would then enter it in a book or file that will not be seen by other members. The "help guy" will in turn, give you his personal number which you would call if you need help. He would look up the nearest members numbers, and give them to you. You call and get the help you need.

It sounds complicated, but it's rather easy if we have someone who will actually volunteer to be the official "SyTy help guy". In my old thread about this, someone volunteered but that was quite a bit ago.

I personally don't think it should be limited to paying members. That drops the possibilities too much. You could be broke down a mile away from a non paying member and not know it, who would have registered but couldn't because he didn't donate.

It's just a suggestion as I wouldn't be willing to volunteer to be the official help guy. I would register if it were made even though I'll probably never use it myself. I'd be more than willing to help out any SyTy'ers that break down or have trouble near my area though.
