called chassis enginering today and they are going to install a 6 point chromoly cage in the sy for 750.00 , that includes everything. They said it will add 65lbs in chromoly. And i think i will get a lexan window , not sure about that yet, i still like peters idea and making the back bars going to the bed removable like swingouts by the door. I will cover the inside bars with black cloth like the seats have, maybe even have some red stiching in there somewhere. Its nice that chassis enginering is only 20minutes away from the house
Since Jack's gonna try my idea, lemme expand on it a bit as I think part of what I explained to him isn't represented here:
My cage idea first and foremost like Mike said is technically NOT legal, but I think it would pass all but the most HARDENED Tech's.
What I was thinkin fer my Sy is a regular hoop w/removable/lexan window like Gary S said, BUT where the bars attach at the top of the hoop to go out to the bed, make'em removable w/a setup similar to swing outs. Then have the same removable setup at the other end in the bed above the bed floor so that when your at the track, you can have the cage in, and when your on street earnin your pay, you can remove it for weight and street creedo. Basically, the BEST of both worlds.
As for seein the joints, I'd have them placed REALLY high in the cab, next to the roof, and in the bed you wouldn't see'em b/c I'd have a bed cover over the cage.
I've never tried this, but it sounds like it'd work.
Good luck Jack, let us know how it goes. And I hate ya ya bastard for livin so close to CE!!!!
When you gettin Al IM too so we can chat????
Jack, I gotta say too that I'd be careful goin 76BB on your Sy. I'd get yer Sy tuned 1st to 25 psi so there's very little correction, work on your launches, 60ft's, work the timing, AFR, and THEN, maybe step up.
BG schooled me and he's right, don't step up till you need too. Nobody I know has run a 76BB on our setup yet and you may end up having to make ALOT of changes to get it to work. Your stall may go up, may have bad spool, could be laggy, or could just be too much fer your bottom end. Nobodies pushed this hard so your entering uncharted territory. I'd run what ya go and when your ready to go 76BB, get a girdle and turbo from Mike, then try it. Just my opinion.
You tried launchin it yet too w/7-10 #'s boost on the ET streets? How'd it work out? Lemme know, I'm interested.
Oh yeah, your Sy WILL go 10.80's the way it sits, esp. w/all weight loss your doin. Now go get that 10 and leave it alone!!!!!!
