There was talk earlier in the year about an East Coast deal, possibly in Ohio? I think maybe Josh was working on it. I did a search, but didn't find anything. (Maybe it was a dream...)
At any rate, things to consider if we want to do this right...
- Location. Just like with the Nats, it the location should be where we'll get the best turnout. If there are 30 FAST guys that want to go and 2 guys from New England, the odds of all 30 driving up to the Mason-Dixon line are remote - remember, these guys are gonna be going to KC in July too, so vacation time (and desire to put a bunch of miles on these trucks) may be at a minimum.
Found this
link to a drag race facility finder, might help. (Gut feeling says VA or NC will be the best locations.)
- Date. The Nats are in July this year (not my vote) so doing something around that time will result in poor turnout IMO, as I sure wouldn't want to make 2 long trips in a month's time, I'm not sure how many others would either.
- Organization. While I certainly don't expect the kind of turnout we get at the Nats, there has to be a firm, organized plan - if we get a good turnout (which I expect) "winging it" won't work. I'm sure that Marty, Opie, and the Chitown guys wouldn't mind offering advice and maybe more from what they went through this year - I know they have form letters ready to go out, just fill in the specific info. Also, if folks feel that this "inaugural" event was poorly organized, they won't come back the next year.
Just my thoughts. I'll be there, but my Ty WILL be gone in the next month.

Hopefully I'll ride with Dad, as he probably can't make the Nats this year. If not, I'll bring the POS Sunbird.
What's everyone else think??
