Double-A

There was talk earlier in the year about an East Coast deal, possibly in Ohio? I think maybe Josh was working on it. I did a search, but didn't find anything. (Maybe it was a dream...)

At any rate, things to consider if we want to do this right...

- Location. Just like with the Nats, it the location should be where we'll get the best turnout. If there are 30 FAST guys that want to go and 2 guys from New England, the odds of all 30 driving up to the Mason-Dixon line are remote - remember, these guys are gonna be going to KC in July too, so vacation time (and desire to put a bunch of miles on these trucks) may be at a minimum.

Found this link to a drag race facility finder, might help. (Gut feeling says VA or NC will be the best locations.)

- Date. The Nats are in July this year (not my vote) so doing something around that time will result in poor turnout IMO, as I sure wouldn't want to make 2 long trips in a month's time, I'm not sure how many others would either.

- Organization. While I certainly don't expect the kind of turnout we get at the Nats, there has to be a firm, organized plan - if we get a good turnout (which I expect) "winging it" won't work. I'm sure that Marty, Opie, and the Chitown guys wouldn't mind offering advice and maybe more from what they went through this year - I know they have form letters ready to go out, just fill in the specific info. Also, if folks feel that this "inaugural" event was poorly organized, they won't come back the next year.

Just my thoughts. I'll be there, but my Ty WILL be gone in the next month. Hopefully I'll ride with Dad, as he probably can't make the Nats this year. If not, I'll bring the POS Sunbird.

What's everyone else think??

Well it appears that nobody is that inrested in this kinf of event in the south. I put up a poll and only 2 voted for and 5 voted against. So I guess this was dumb idea. I would say that we should have a North East thing but that would just be a NASTE meet and we know at the most 15 trucks are all that come out for naste. Well maybe we can have a naste race/show and shine at E-town or maybe even maple grove if more poeple would come. Well let me know what you guys want to do. Seemed like a good idea

Maybe we can set up a big day at E-Town. If not many southerns are up for it I guess we should keep it up here. I also know that in April they have SLP day and all you have to do is register online and E-town is free. I went last year with a few guys and we came in a Z06 and they let everyone in so i think sy and tys are fine there. It does get pack though.

jacksonville NC isnt a really great choice for the dragstrip. its too far east, and not really close to any major highways. fayetteville, and rockingham would be better choices. fayetteville is really nice, and right off of interstate 95 south.
