I remember doing that when I did the Sy. I used a hacksaw & it was a bitch.
I'm just going to throw them on with the rubber bushings for now so I can check the drop. Then I'll worry about replacing the bushings.

replacing the bushings was a big enough pain in the ass that i want to do it once when they are out of the truck. :tup:

So i'm sweating my ass off now.
Got one side removed & weighed the stock spring.
Stock spring = 41 lbs. ea.
Mono-leaf = 19 lbs. ea. (some additional weight was lost when I removed the shells & rubber bushings) :tup:

Total weight trimmed will be 44 lbs.

Finally finished.
I didn't install the wedge as the spring doesn't facilitate using the stock wedge.
The spring has a large nipple that fits directly into the hole on the spring perch.
Not quite sure how that is going to pan out. I guess I'll have to wait & see. Maybe someone makes a compatible wedge?
I also need to get some shorter U-bolts. The ones that were on there were from the 2" drop blocks I removed awhile ago. There is barely enough thread to get the U-bolts cinched up.

Overall initial drop.......
.5" I know they need some time to settle, so we'll see.

how do they ride? how is the handling?

groundforce has ceased production of monoleafs for our application(s), and they're going to sell what remaining stock they have left. once that's gone, it's gone.

Don't know yet. It's still sittting in the driveway.
Like most trucks, it's broken. I've got the parts to fix it just no time.

I just bought these setback plates to get the axle centered & some 1" blocks to drop the rear a tad more.

Here are the setback plates & drop blocks I installed today:

Here are the Ground Force leafs after I installed the ES bushings & painted them.

And here is what the rear wheel looks like with the new leafs, setback plates & drop blocks. Current fenderwell height is 28".

Looks nice and centered. BTW it looks like your tire maybe rotating the wrong way.

Yes, you are correct. This pic was before I installed the Belltech swaybar. I switched sides when I finished the swaybar so they are correct now.

BTW, the setback plates mess up the swaybar geometry a bit.
Ideally the centerline of the swaybar will be inline with the axle centerline.
I had to rotate the swaybar centerline forward to get the endlinks to lineup with their mounting brackets.
Not ideal, but I'm sure it will still work ok.

So I've logged some miles now with the mono-leafs. I also installed some new Bilstein rear shocks, sport models I believe. And I'm very happy with ride.
I had the 1" drop blocks with the 3/8" set back plates & the ride was good, but I wasn't happy with the stance, so I pulled the 1" drop blocks last night and now I'm happy with the ride & the stance..

Good post! I have same setup using stock leafs. Heavy duty U-bolts help out a lot. Remember not to over load your rear end with two much weight, even having four people in the truck is to much or you'll snap your sway bar off at the frame.

Anyone else that has installed the poly bushings; did you remove the metal shell from the eyelets to install the bushing?

4C FED, just confirming here, but you didn't reuse the metal shell "casings" from the stock rubber bushings that came w/ the groundforce leafs did you? i just can't see how i would reuse them personally, but i wanted to ask before i go out and get busy.

i bought the leafs from www.supertruckusa.com. when they arrived i was confused because the reciept is from quadratech . did some checking; same address, so same company i guess.

just to let everyone know, if you're interested in these leafs, there are very few of them left. groundforce is no longer producing these monoleafs, and the reciept confirms that because in one of the columns it reads "discontinued stock".

I removed the shells. both on the Sy & Ty and they work just fine.

Interesting, do you know what spring rate these are?

I currently have flex-a-forms that come in a 19lbs a pair, 8.5lbs each about. W/o bushings I know it's under 19lbs a pair, b/c I had to send a set back.

I like the leafs but the rot/break always worries me, however I'm probably going to be a good 600-800lbs lighter than you guys by the time I get my coilovers in, also I hardly ever drive my car so for the next year or two I bet they will be fine.

So are there composites, or just steel? Either way 40lb weight reduction is sweet

how is the 'wrap' with a mono spring vs stock multileaf

i can only imagine that your pinon angle would go from bad to worse losing leafs?

anybody ever put a tape measure beside those set back plates.. they look too easy to make. i would love my rear to be centered.

I had done several boost launches (10+ psi) before my TC died and I had no issues with wheel hop.
And that is without the angle shims installed.

I ordered another set of these for my Syclone.
I found one pair left. Well some how one of them got damaged in shipping. I don't know how in the hell you damage a piece of spring steel this large, but they did.
That left me with only one spring. Everyone I contacted told me; "Sorry those are discontinued, none available".
Some places I actually had to place an order then wait 7-10 days to hear if they could or couldn't get them. Then get a credit back on my account. Not quite sure how some place like that stays in business.

Anyways, I kept pestering the lady @ the place I purchased them from truckmod.com. I told her that I'd have to return the one spring since I couldn't use just one & that would leave them stuck with one spring. She said that she would check around. I got an email today stating that my replacement spring had shipped.

I'm not sure if Ground Force will still make them on request or if they scoured the warehouses for this last one, but I'll ask the lady @ Truckmod once I receive my replacement spring. That way if Ground Force will still make them & anyone else is interested in these, they'll have some place to get them.

I have pretty wicked wheel hop issues with the fiberglass leafs, but have nothing other than a sway on the axle, and it's 1" higher the rear with no weight back there. Maybe steel monos are the way to go. 10lbs is worth the extra security and better spring response.

$450 for a set of leafs that's only 10lbs lighter, and succumbs to the wear/tear of fiberglass
