Well back to this thread...

Trans surprisingly working great, just took it on a 9 hour round trip without issues.. Few nice launches here and there and still taking it...

I'm currently switching to e85 right now, 80lb injectors and Walbaro 450 pump and Tt chip, this is just to see what I can do till winter..

Now when winter rolls around I decided to finally rebuild this 4.3, it's got 155k miles on it and that I know of, never been rebuilt. I plan on having a local shop do the build.. My question to you guys, what should I do since it's apart? Should I bother boring it since its apart? Yes it's getting a cam and I'm highly considering the vortec head swap to. Asking for opinions from you guys. Thanks

So it runs great? Dude. Leave it in there. Get a cheap block from somewhere and build THAT up how you want it. A block is $300 more but it means you can still use the truck while the engine gets built. What are you going to do to it?

I've been looking into the vortec swap, I thought about the l35 heads but if I'm going to this much effort, why not just go the extra little bit? Also who on the forum did a group buy for the aluminum intakes besides renz? I remember seeing someone make a few of them and now I can't find the thread.

Fuel system showed up today.. Injectors are in, having clearance issues with the fuel pump though.. Should be able to work it out tomorow. Other then that, just waiting on the chip

Be for sale, pte 54/54 turbo, dp from turbo down to axel with ecutout and open dump, meth kit, stock headers/crossover, motor with internals/and heads... So save your pennies :)

So as I'm preparing for this build, I'll be using the forged rods and Pistons, block will have 4bolt mains and bunch misc stuff done. Would I be okay using a new stock crank? I see autozone stocks them for 200$

I've considered it but that requires me tearing apart my current engine in the typhoon when I pull it out. Figured going with new with be better then a used crank with 155,000 miles on it

Stockers live up in the 750hp bracket. Where are you taking her? I'd keep it as is. In fact, I did. My rebuild has a stocker in. Nitride it and then turn it and away you go.

Guess I'll be tearing apart my stock motor even more lol. I'm having a machine shop go threw my new block and also do the rebuild and reassembly just so I won't "well shouldn't" have any issues internally. Thanks for tips guys

I would just rebuild the stock one unless your trying to keep for the future so it will be number matching. A high mile SyTy short block is only worth its value as core.

Well this new block I got is already built/ bored which is what I was planning on doing with my current motor in the typhoon so it's saving me all the money in labor for the work, I just have to get it cleaned up and assembled

If a new one is only 200 and then the additional cost to cryo it is not too much...why not? That way you can keep the other one going while the spare motor is finishing up being built.

Rockauto has two listed too....one showing Z code for 229

Well hers my excitement last night. It's time for a rebuild to a stronger motor that can take more abuse. 155k untouched unopened Atleast I thought miles, I felt I was pushing it. So time for a rebuild along with a bunch of other goodies. I got the motor out last night, worked on it few hours a night for past couple nights and made sure to lable everything and keep it simple.


From what I thought.. This was never opened up.


Decided to yank the heads off.. Im planning on dropping the block off Friday to be gone threw and built.



To my suprise... Look what I find
