I think I finally decided to go Meth Injection.

I will be running a stock engine and turbo with a johnson intercooler pump, electric fans, airfoil, cone KN filter on the orange elbow, and a 3" catback magnaflow exhaust.

What is a good boost number to shoot for on a tune ... 18lbs?

I will be using a Turbo Tweak chip.

this is hard to say, i would say detotantion kills an engine, and too much boost will do too.
our headbolt pattern design allows alot of boost. (more than a GN engine). so i'm running 22 psi on stock headgaskets with a pt67 dbb.
you really need to figure out what you want. and if you havent reached it..add 1-2 psi more (tune out knock)..
need to find the weak spot, but i doubt it will be the headgasket.. :D

I'd run 25 if it wasn't lean.Maybe more. 26? :dunno:

So a big part of it is in the TUNE, right?

The turbo tweak site says 16-18lbs is safe for pump gas on their TURBO BUICK tunes. If the TB's hold less boost than we do ... I would say 18-20 like first said :) ---

Well the methanol makes pump gas irrelevant.

I ran 17.5 psi on pump gas with no knock. The meth raises the octane and cools the charge,so if you aren't lean you can run 25+ psi for a while anyways, until the trans explodes.

Using the same chip, but with a Waller 20G and meth, I'm running 20. John suggested I could run up to 25psi without too much effort.

Hmm good post.. I run a razor's kit in my buick and keep the boost around 21-22.. I plan on running alky in My rather stock Ty also. If you havent already done so I suggest You look into buying a afpr, walbro fp and hotwire kit to compliment the alky.. Just my 2 cents

I'm running 20psi on 93 octane and 50/50 Meth. This thread makes me wana try 22psi next season to see what it'll do :turbo:

I have run up to 26 psi w/100% meth injection & 91 octane just to try it. It ran great!

I would say to run 20-22 psi.just to be safer. But if you monitor knock & dont run too much timing, you can go more than 22 PSI.

Julio says running 100% meth is the way to go, not a 50/50 mix.

How come no one uses Torco fuel additive? A buddy of mine made 30+whp jump running 95 octane using Torco in his Evo8. I plan on running it here soon. At less with Torco, you are good to go for a whole tank. If you have problem with your meth/alky injection, if you have any problems with it, it's not going to end well.

Air distribution issues start showing up around 22psi, so you end up having to run richer and get diminishing returns at high boost levels. The stock turbo without any cooling effect for Alky or e85 start tends to start showing running out steam at 18-20 psi. Alky extends he stock turbo ability to run past that.

You want to give what engine wants but I would shoot for 22psi. I wouldn't run more than 25psi, at 25psi you will be fighting air distribution issues and the stock turbo heating the intake charge.

I'm currently using Torco, but at $20 a bottle it can get expensive.

If I were you I would quit comparing your truck to GN's. Not the same we all should know this by now. What works for most doesn't work for us.:rotf:

When I spend around $80 out here to fill up with 91, what's another $20? I would actually like to run straight E85 since there is a station 1 1/2 blocks away from my house.

Don't take this the wrong way dude... but you need to get with somebody and drink their coolaid.

It's like you're trying to bake chocolate chip cookies and you're creating a thread for each ingredient. It's not the individual ingredients that make up the combination, it's the combination that dictates the ingredients. The amount of sugar dictates the amount of butter, which dictates the amount of flour- and so-on.

Drink Josh's coolaid, or call RPM and drink their coolaid, or get with Hood and drink his coolaid, or maybe talk to Sportmachines not sure if they've got their coolaid finished yet... it doesn't really matter... but pick somebody's coolaid and roll with it, or you're just going to be left with a pile of parts that don't work together.
