Not trying to bust your chops here, but this is totally the wrong question.

It assumes more boost is better.

It assumes that automatically meth makes up for really crappy gas quality.

The Zen of tuning is the realization that sometimes less boost is better, that sometimes less timing is better, and sometimes... less power is better.

Make what you have run knock free, with room to allow for the lousiest gas you can find.
Really knowing "knock free" involves looking at spark plugs.... period. If you're not willing to do that, you need to massively cheat the tune on the conservative side.

So a big part of it is in the TUNE, right?

The turbo tweak site says 16-18lbs is safe for pump gas on their TURBO BUICK tunes. If the TB's hold less boost than we do ... I would say 18-20 like first said ---

The TUNE is everything! It's all about starting off with stock boost and getting max timing with zero KR. Then, turn up the boost 2lbs at a time. Each increase, shoot for proper AFR's (which differ running with and without alky). max timing and zero KR.

I thought my tune was just OK with alky. I was running 22psi and zero KR @ 26deg advanced. Felt ok, but I was used to that tune on my stock Ty. I purchased a Street pit bull chip and started running that as my Ty is now my daily driver...till I get a new truck Well, after 2 months of driving the Ty Every day, I put my Code 59 tune and 3 bar map back in the truck......WHAT a difference. IT's way faster! I LOVE MY TY Again!!!!:tup:

Get a WBO2, code 59 and start off with low boost, max timing and zero KR, then increase boost in small incriments. I Think you can set the timing tables with the chip you have, so just start slow, get some way to watch your KR....tuner pro or code 59 and an AF meter to watch your AFR's and you will find the power

If I remember correctly, the turbo tweak chip has a knock sensor built into the chip...correct?

You may be able to tweak the turbo tweak as I had described below...sort-of.

Run max timing without KR. Once you start having KR, you will be at the max boost level for that timing map on the turbo tweak. So, once you start having KR, try and increase the fuel pressure 2psi at a time (If you have installed an AFPR) and see if that will stop the KR. This method may allow you more timing at the boost level you are running. You could also get a ADL cable for 50 bucks and get tuner pro for free. There's a tool in that program to data log and see what the truck is doing throughout the RPM range.

Consider that at 14.7 psi, you effectively double the NA rated hp of the engine in question. So that puts you at 145 NA hp. Or about 10hp per psi. so 145+250 is 395, which is probably a little on the plus side. So I would expect 375 or so.


Just going by math alone. We all know that there are many variables that factor into hp making abilities of an engine at any given boost level.

The Boost is not relevant!The stock injectors are good to 300 hp at almost 100 duty cycle.The stock injectors + Stock HP levels. I make 300 hp at 8 psi...... stock truck makes 285 hp at 14.7 psi.

Also think about.Is adding a totally new fuel "alki"that the engine will become totally reliant on. Is that safe??If you run pure meth then you have to add a lot of timing and take out fuel. Now if that pump gets clogged or dosent work for some reason,which actually happen's more than you think.You have a big problem. Not safe.... Also dig is totally right "of course " when he said less sometimes is more!
Tune your truck till it starts to knock then back it off a couple degrees.You don't want any knock retard. Same with the boost.Too much of one thing is not good. whether it be alki or timing or boostThey have those pizo whatch macallits.That go in the cylinder and measure pressure and distortion of the combustion in the chamber. See if you can tune with one of those!!

Old post but,,, My stock engine w/a 20G turbo, but a smaller A/R turbine housing (10CM) instead of the standard 14 CM.

My Sy made 386 HP @ 21 PSI w/stock injectors & an Ultimate chip.
Just to somewhat answer your question.:squint:
