Ignition module relocation?

Has anyone tried this and would it be helpful?

I have a lifetime warranty on mine through AZ so if I try this and it doesn't work then I'm covered.

It seems I'm always having to replace mine. Don't know if it's a crappy design or heat-soaked. I searched here and didn't find anything. I searched on-line and came across motorcycles mounting them on the battery case away from underneath their seats and mustangs with their THICK FILM IGNITION MODULE (think that's right) problems. Not all vehicles but some.

I'd be mounting it on the firewall so it stays close to the distributor and also so the wires won't be too long.

If you have anything to add, please do so? Thank you.

Re: Ignition module relocation?

I dont see any problem with mounting it on the firewall. There are alot of guys that mount them away from the heat.

:2cents: Wherever you decide to mount the module make sure you apply the heatsink compound or you will burn it out sooner than later.

I wasn't sure if I was going to need it or not since I left a small gap between the mod and firewall. Truck has been doing great until today. I went to a friends house to make a small bracket for it (harder than it looks) but came up empty. I did drop it and after I gave up on the bracket and I decided to go home. Truck still started up fine and ran fine until I came to my first light and it decided to turn off. POS!

I think I also did not leave a small gap between the two after installing it to the firewall. I think I'm going to install some spacers and still put the heat-sink paste and try it.
