Re: Let's see your non stock wheels on a Sy/Ty

Here is my Ty with C5 Y2K all four are 18x9.5

245/45/18 BFG kdw2 in the front
275/35/18 BFG drag radials in the rear.

These are the oem all aluminum Alcoa rims. They weight the same as a stock SyTy rim. I plan on painting them all black soon.

I had those rims on all fours on my last car.....LOL. I sold that Vette to get my Syclone. HOw do they fit, did you have to use a spacer? Did they stick out at all? One of my options was to use Magnesium C-5 rims, but I did not know if it was better to use the 8.5x17 fronts or the 9.5x18 rears for my Sy. I have a couple of aftermarket 11x 17 inch ZR-1 rims that I am gonna see if they fit just to guage backspacing.

Thanks

These rims fit very well, I am going to need a 1-1.5" spacer in the rear. I haven't put one on yet. Eventually I will be running four 275/35/18's but for now I have the 245 and I figured I would use them.

The Magnesium rims will work also, if it were me I would go with four of the same size.

Thanks for the info, I'm amazed the truck can handle such big wheels and still need a spacer.

It seems that a back spacer is needed, so I guess you also need longer Lug bolts? I plan on runningall 4 wheels the same size, because it is much easier to find tires to fit andalso you can rotate the tires. Thanks for all the info, I'm getting a clearer picture of what I can do as far as wheels go.

Thanks for the link, I never used any spacers before, so I had no idea they came with the lugs.

I was checking out those tires and I was thinking about the front tires being drag radials and saying WTF? Then I just remembered that these trucks were AWD...LOL! I've only driven my truck a couple of times and forget that it is AWD...Duhh, I'm slow. I like that front scoop, is it for the radiator or intercooler?

It's just a six

The scoop is for the radiator.
This is to feed cold air to my air box.

Re: Let's see your non stock wheels on a Sy/Ty

We could never get away with anything like that in Calif. I admit that I like the idea of cold air intake.

Mine passes every under hood insp in Cali.

The box is just like an ATR box, just larger. The cover is off in pic to show filter, otherwise it is an inclosed box.

I would say probably 98%+ smog test shops do not know what the original airbox looks like anyways.:2cents:

I took the OG air intake set-up off back in 1998, never been ask once, about the airbox.

Re: Let's see your non stock wheels on a Sy/Ty

There's a picture floating around here somewhere of my old Ty with Fikse wheels on it. Very sharp looking. A different air intake may be a wise idea depending on the condition of your stock crossover....you have been checking it, right?

Re: Let's see your non stock wheels on a Sy/Ty

For some reason im very partialto these:tup:

What size are the front rims and do they stick out at all? I don't like even the slightest bit of sticking out. I actually preffer rims that are exactly 1/4 inch in under the fenders. Those rims actually look better on the Sy than on the Vette...LOL.
