Re: LS powered SyTys

so you wanted to do an LS conversion before the LS motor existed? Just how mensa are you?

They came out in 1997 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine

so 2010 - 18 years = 1992

1992 -vs- 1997....either he worked in GM secret project development team in 92, and it took GM 5 years to develop LS engine, or his crystal ball is much better quality than the one I have at home.

Shit, maybe I just need to change the batteries in crystal ball.....:banghead:

Re: LS powered SyTys

I've switched chassis but am getting closer.

I'm going to put this 5.3L in the Naked Ty. Just tore it down to go to the machine shop yesterday.
Picked up a TH400 to get built.
Going to take the frame out.. blast and box in.
Ladderbars and floaters on the leaf's. 3way's for shocks. (Stock suspension class still)
Lockers in front/rear diff. 3:08 gears still.
I think I'm just going to use stock crank with good rods/lower compression pistons.
Budget build and take a bunch of weight out of the truck.
Hope to have it together by spring.

One of the fitting companys sells adapters that will screw right on and attach your -8, -10, -6 lines. Been while since i did mine but it was all fittings.

Re: LS powered SyTys

I may go this route if the Sy blows up that my guy (JimmyTnT) is working on. He's a big fan of LS1's. Hos current project is his pride an joy RX7 w/ Ls1 and T88.

Re: LS powered SyTys

In the Sy's case, reliable and easy don't look too bad.

1MadGumby...your old ride is safe :)

My buddy keeps telling me he can make the same power as the Sy modded with wayy less effort, money, and stress. For as much as I drive it, we'll see.

I used to be part of the crowd againt the V8, but with most going EFI of some sort, its not that bad when you retain AWD and stock appearance. The carbed 350's over a jasper engine on a molested Ty just doesn't sit right, though.

We'll always have our die-hard V6 guys doing impressive things, which I love to see. Then again, we have our guys doing V8's, which is equally as awesome in its own right.

Maybe he meant a V8 sb conversion of a TPI of somesort or something similar w/ or w/o boost. I know I have a S10 swap manual from my NA S10 days.

Or....post whore lol.

This is why I have a stock ls2 just laying around just in case I blow up the 4.3L. The 6.0L will be going in.
