New air filter???

Just curious as to what every one is doing to when their air tube for the air filter begins to fail? Pics would be nice.

Re: New air filter???

Thanks for the pics. Your right, this isn't a walk in the park. Having difficulty even the the CAI kit. The first 2 pics have the battery relocated, I'm guessing to rear of the truck next to the spare tire?

JoveDios, where did you get your set up from?

I custom made that one with parts from autozone I used a 3" 90 degree angle and another like 45 degree angle fitting everything is 3" I spent like 60 to 80$.

But now I have a rpm CAI which I like better but I spent over 200$ on it

Idk maybe I can sell you my old one if you like but probably be faster if you do it yourself

Re: New air filter???

I have an RPM CAI as well but the piping makes contact with A/C lines as well as the turbo hose going to the heat exchanger. Entertaining other ideas at this point.

i was also looking at the RPM one, so it 100% avoidable touching anything?

It's not going to hurt anything. Even if it did, I doubt you will have the truck anymore at that time.

at that time? you mean because it would take years to even be a problem? not sure what that means but i plan to be buried in my typhoon, or at least it is what i tel my wife. i just had some problems with rubbing with other vac lines that went unnoticed so it would be nice to avoid any rubbing that could escalate sooner then later, my truck is pretty much 99% stock, i just think it might be time to add some light tasteful upgrades for my daily driving.

Re: New air filter???

I have an RPM set up and I had to "massage" it a bit for everything to work. I am planning on doing something else on this new build since I am relocating the battery and going with a2a.

Re: New air filter???

I found a solution to my air filter and not bad. I used a heavy duty 3" rubber hose with 2 90 degrees and one 45 degree elbows. It does make contact with a/c line and the corner of the battery but being its a rubber hose, it gives way where needed. Also it makes a little contact with radiator over flow spout but I think it will still operate fine. Tried to attach an image but I'm a little computer tard. Also I found a 2 wire plug that was not connected to anything. It's located on the engine harness with a/c plug and the coolant temp sensor. Any clues? Also does the a/c compressor have a diode inline? I found one on mine and that's the first one I've seen on any ac system. Once again I have pics just need time to figure it out.

Re: New air filter???

According to the "Posting Rules" I'm not allowed to post pics. How do we change this?

Here's my modded RPM setup with the cold air box I built,. I would have posted sooner but didn't have access to the pic. There are a bunch of other pics of the build process on my photobucket page.

What/how did you mod to make it work? I gave up with mine as I either couldn't clear the battery, or the AC hose had to be bent up so high that the hood wouldn't shut!
