New PB 11.22 @121!!!!!

Some of you may have been following my new Setup with swapping over to Vortec heads and a Custom Steve Morris Engines Cam, A2A and Traction Bars.

Last year with Stock Heads/Cam I ran 12.1 @ 113Mph running 21psi 22* Timing. Got a 1.66 60'.

This year I'm running 18psi and 20* Timing and feels real strong. Hoping I can hit a 11.7 atleast.

What do you guys think it'll run with Decent traction?

Thanks,

Code what?
Granted you increase boost from 18psi and give it more timing I would say low 11's shouldn't be a problem. I'd like to follow your results as I'm having Alex build me a custom turbo, no cam yet. I've got a couple questions I don't remember from your build thread. What engine management? Injectors? And torque convertor stall speed?

I ran the same turbo to a 11.4 so i don't see why not.

Re: Hoping for 11s

Last year I went 11.95 @ 116 on 20# and only 14* timing. 60' was 1.797 Just think what that run would be if I ran, say, a 1.68 60'

60# injs, vortecs, custom Comp cam, traction bars, street tires, TurboTeak chip, stock IC, alky, 3200 stall, built trans.

You should be able to beat that pretty easy.

What was your launch RPM? And what was you interval between 1000' and 1320'? Can you post the slip? I'd like to compare it to mine and see where the differences are.

Thanks

You should be able to reach your goals assuming you can get it a clean launch. I am sure there is more hp available via boost/timing if you need it. Bring it to the track and see what it does.

Re: Hoping for 11s

Hi Sean,

Your build is very similar to mine, but I have a build motor. When I was running my 412 cam and that same turbo I did a best of 11.6 and I'm hoping for 10.99 with a new cam.

Good luck,
Nick

Re: Hoping for 11s

Its tough to say as there can be a great variation in the tune-up even with the values you posted. If all things are sorted out in the tune-up, good launch, and you give the engine the timing it wants, I think a high-to-mid-11 pass is no sweat. You are at the point where you should really be considering an EFI system change.

Re: Hoping for 11s

Thanks guys for the feedback. Being that I'm still on the 100k mile motor, I don't really wana push it more than what my Tune is set for. It feels better than last year, and has more Top end. I'm sure I have a couple more PSI to run but I'll see what it'll run the way it is first.

I think the biggest thing is Traction for me. I'm sure I can keep goin with mods, but I really need to start building my spare motor in the garage.

I'll keep you guys updated!!

Re: Hoping for 11s

The tune is also a bit rich right now so there is definitely more in it....I'm sure more in it than the tranny and bottom end may be able to take for any length of time ;)

With it being a bit rich, new build, traction not dialed in, I'm thinking a 11.7 would be a good first pass. Then get some front-end limiters, adjust the bars if needed, optimize tire pressures and go from there.

It's running sub 3-second zero to sixties, so it's definitely making some power.

Goin to the Track tomorrow. My Dad is also racing his Jeep SRT. He's hoping for a 12.9 to beat his 13.1 last year.

I have a couple different combinations I'm goin to try to get a good fast pass out of it. Wish me luck!!

I'd let the guy racing me know that I was gonna double bulb him while he's burning out.I'd set up my boost launch and leave on the last amber.

Deep stage = better reaction time but slower ET. Also easier to red light. But that doesn't matter if all you're looking for is ET. IF all you're looking for is ET then do a normal stage, build boost, and leave when you want and forget the other guy. It IS common courtesy to tell him but in my experience few do it.

Actual racing? Cheat just a little IE pull in just a tad past where the bottom bulb lights, leaving the top bulb still lit. Leave on the third amber.

Better than me:

Personally I would tell the guy next to me I was not going off the tree. If you are just running T&T go when you are 100% ready, not when the tree dictates. That is the way I always approached my runs if I was going for a new PB.

Reaction time was never a measurable I tracked or cared about on PB runs.
