That's a great run Sean. That is an easy 11.20 or so run with a better 60'.

Keep up the good work.

Nice work. Need to work on that spool time. What convertor are you running?

3200 Vigilante Converter 3 disk. Rob will be chiming in today to explain my Spool up issue and how the Tune is set.

I know it has more in it from the MPH. Maybe I'll push it a little more.

Congrats. That is a huge accomplishment

Based on MPH and your 60ft is very soft. You should be solid in the 1.5/low 1.6 60ft range.

I personaly would resolve that before you think you need more power. a .1 second in 60ft is typically .2 seconds in ET

Re: New PB 11.44 @121!!!!!

This was an interesting tune for Sean.. of course all done long distance via logs and BINs.

We had an early fueling issue (bad pump) that cost a lot of time, and then trying to dial in the correct offset for the 60lb'ers took a bit of time but is really what got the injectors to respond in a way that I thought was 'normal'.

This is the first log I've seen of a full 1/4 pass, and of a full 2-step launch for Sean's Ty.

Code59 has a cool 'Spool Up' mode function that I didn't have activated in the BIN that ran 11.44, and in looking at the log it definitely would have helped. He was way rich in building boost, although the timing looked good. I just finished a new BIN with the Spool Up mode activated and we'll see how that works - definitely a cool function that provides a lean spooling mode, and that doesn't affect everyday drive-ability.

This was a first attempt on the track with this tune and I'm happy with it, although I'd say it has a lot left in it... possibly even getting into the very high 10's.

I've always been taught when tuning with meth to tune for optimal AFR's, then add enough meth to lower (richen) the AFR's by .5 to .6. Too much meth takes away power and I think this log shows that in that rpms were 'fluttering', probably indicating us being on the verge of blowing out spark. Sean wanted to run the meth at a setting of 5 on the knob and that's what we did, even though I think its a tad too much for optimal power. But, it certainly keeps the intake temps down and there was zero KR during the entire run :)

Hard to say how much more his stock bottom-end and tranny can take with power being effectively put to the ground. Sean's converter was stalling at about 3600rpm at launch and I'm surprised that he didn't get a tad more wheelspin (getting it spooled up sooner and launching with higher boost will certainly change that).

All in all, I'm so impressed with Code59. Once you know the ins and outs of it, it's easy to use. The most difficult thing with this tune was logging with both DM and TunerPro so that I could see the AE/PE adders having effect, and dealing with the spring affect of that long intake tract through the A2A.

Sean sure puts a lot of hard, quality work in to his Ty and it's great to see him get this result!

Makes me want to finish my razor kit install and start playing with some higher boost :)

Re: New PB 11.44 @121!!!!!

If I were you I'd just dial it down and call it good. You push it any harder and things tend to break.

Congrats on those passes though

Nice runs, and I agree with Jimmy. You've achieved excellent numbers with the stock bottom end set up with 100K. Have fun where you're at and save for the good parts short block build. I'm sure Wyo has fine tuning adjustments as mentioned above with the spool function, but I wouldn't push it much more. Keep it safe and enjoy the bottem 11's with a 4K truck.

We can make mine your next project ;)

Re: New PB 11.44 @121!!!!!

This is Sean's Dad Rick Krupa from RK Kustom back in the day which some of you still might remember. I just wanted to say how proud I am of his accomplishment with the Ty and as a man he has become. I never would have imagined he would take it this far. He has truly taken it to the next level with going to car shows on weekends and winning a couple of trophies to modding the Ty into a Beast!. I remember when I first took him to the Nats back in the day I think he got hooked since then. I always tried to teach him to set a goal ,set a budget and do research and more research and don't just through parts on it. I also told him to ask for help along the way because that is how we learn.

This Ty has been in our family since '94 and and was our family DD for many years and I can truly say believe it or not, it was one of the most reliable vehicles we have owned. I was always one for maintaining things and taught him to do the same. I have been a Machine Mechanic for 35yrs and Sean is working as a Tech at a VW car dealer working his way up to eventually become a journeyman. He also went to school for automotive so its in his blood.

I would also like to thank all the people on this forum because I have been on this forum from almost the beginning and there is so much knowledge here and I still enjoy reading the posts. All summer I would watch Sean come home from work and him and Rob would be emailing each other and Sean would try sometimes 3-4 bins in one evening. I told him to make sure he knows what Rob is changing so he can learn the tuning aspect and hopefully help the next generation. So far this Ty is going on 2 generations and knowing Sean, He'll probably pass it on to his kid when he is married and settled down.

A couple of weeks ago Sean asked me if I wanted to take a ride since it's been a while since I was in the Ty. He opened the electronic cutout, turned on the 2 step and did a boost launch in a industrial section near our house were he does his tuning. When he launched it, I got strapped in the passenger seat so tight I couldn't breath. I thought my SRT was fast but this Ty put a really big smile on my face. After I was able to catch my breath, I knew he would reach his goal but I still didn't thing he would surpass it by as much as he did.

Thanks for listening and you guys Rock:D

I agree 100%, I wish there was more of these threads and "good" stuff going on.

I also respect greatly the father/son aspect. My dad and I did a lot when I was growing up and I miss it now that we live 2500 miles apart. Enjoy it both of you and plan for a trans soon. :)
