Re: only a matter of time

Well then there is no one else to blame if the help was offered and then turned down. So it sounds like Rockford Racecraft was trying to step up and do the right thing but was told not too, if I am reading that right? So whats the problem??

Re: only a matter of time

So I've been texting herman about this all morning (on a sunday, its worth noting) and now i get heads up on this thread.

I told him there was no warranty, but that I would be happy to look at it and see what failed and we could talk options. BUT, what he wants to do is take it to a third party shop, have it torn down and THEN have me "work" with them. (his words) He knew when he bought it that there was no warranty. I didn't install it, select the converter, or verify the proper trans cooler.

His first text says " I've got less than 500 miles and no boost launches, just cruising". Anyone believe that? He was on the dyno more than two months ago, has posted about racing a TBSS to over 120, and Im supposed to believe that?

Why wouldn't he boost launch it?

Its tuned, making GREAT power, yet, NO boost launches? and less than 500 (cruising) miles in two months on his daily driver? Anybody trying trying to get a warranty says that kind of Bullsh*t.

And now I'm supposed to let another shop tear it down? Yeah, right.

and to top it off, I realize that he is slamming me before I even hear from him. Im trying to help, and find this thread he started before even talking to me. Gimme a break!

What incentive do (or any shop) have to help when a customer does nothing but slam you online BEFORE even finding out what you are willing to do?

That answers my first question. The offer was there to look at it and warranties stated ahead of time.

I know I would probably be testing that bitch out....but that's just me.

And now I'm supposed to let another shop tear it down? Yeah, right.

I sure as hell wouldnt...again that's just me.

I agree 100% ......... The truth is always somewhere between two stories and now that both sides are in...it puts things in perspective. Not taking sides...just MHO for what its worth.

Re: only a matter of time

OKAY ASSHOLE.. you wanna get into this..

**** you first off.. second off

there have been no BOOSt launches because my tires are in not any shape after sitting in your ****ing shop for 6 ****ing years. i have not changed my tires at all.. you yourself know that i haven't been boost launching.. i called you and asked what i needed to do before i boost launch.. suspension wise. umm remember stock propshaft.. stock driveshaft.. no loops .. yeaaah.. why would i wanna break something

maybe if you dumbass would have done something for what i've paid you..

why would i bring my truck back to you? after sitting there for 6 years. does that make any ****ing sense to anyone?

you provide no warranty for any of your work.. why would you? you have nothing of quality what so ever.

i'm done with your idiotic shop and i hope many others have learned from this.

bring it up to your shop.. and we can "go over the options" after a 4,500 dollar trans.. there should be no options.. that trans should be a f'n monster. and to go out with out launching while driving in 3rd.. man. dude.

i honestly hope that kharma gets the best of you

I can't argue with that....if I payed $4,500.00 for a transmission, it better build one bulletproof transmission, and sure as shit have some type of warranty.....even if it is a conditional warranty.

Re: only a matter of time

$4500 for a no warranty implied 700r4 rebuild............fawk I'm in the wrong business...lol!

This sucks man.......could you scan the build sheet so we can see what cost $4500 dollars in a 700r4?

Re: only a matter of time

..the converter in the transmission is the same one that rockford was planning on using for my build before i pulled my truck from there shop. its a 9/11 3200 stall conveter. my trans cooler is a very good and efficient trans cooler, dude.. i am really not worried about covering this or that under warranty. i said if you were a decent guy. he would have. i'll just spend my money elsewhere like i should have done years ago and get it done right.

i guess i'll be having straightline performance do my transmission now as well!!!!

Re: only a matter of time

One last thing:

This truck was on the dyno at least twice making numerous pulls with an unlocked converter. ANY knowlegeable trans builder will tell you that will kill a 700R4 quick. The heat generated when the converter is unlocked is incredible, especially when making power pulls. I'll bet the damage was done on the dyno.

Most dyno shops go to great lengths to try to make pulls with the converter locked. sometimes it isnt possible, but on the Typhoon, its easy. Obviously, they didnt know what they were doing here.

And gee Herman, your last post shows what kind of classy guy you are. I think everyone on this board knows who the real idiot is! I'm sure that kind of attitude will get you far!

How much was a complete Blake rebuild kit, $1800?
So $2700 in labor? What a crock of Sh!t.

Re: only a matter of time

Herman posted multiple times a different price for the trans.... do I have to link it?

i got the truck back.. all it pretty much had done was a motor pull. he gave me a transmission well didnt give me.. instead of refunding any of my money.. he said the transmission was 3,500 dollars,

gave me a trans for 3500 a fuel rail and a exhaust manifold. storage????

i have absolutly nothing against rockford but i guess we just see different facts on the truth.

Re: only a matter of time

I have to agree with Silly on on this, I have seen multiple post all with different prices for the transmission cost. So how much was just the transmission??

Re: only a matter of time

sorry guys.. i did make a mistake.. transmission was 3500 and i do have the sheets for it.

i paid... 1500 to remove and disassemble old motor

3500 for a stage 4 transmission upgrade

600 typhoon fuel rails

right exhaust manifold 450

i believe this was in accordance to pretty much make up for the 6,000 dollars i gave him down for a complete truck.. motor, trans turbo setup. and after 6 years nothing was done.. when i asked what we were going to do about the 6 grand.. he gave me this sheet.

so now. straightline performance doesn't know what they are doing? even though i've heard you had them tune a car for you previously?

its okay man.. if you work sucks.. it sucks.. no excuses.. just take it as is. and learn from it.

Herman, I am only going off the facts posted so dont take anything personal.

We had another thread that went over the 6k and it was determined to all be within the right lines no need to rehash that.

Second, really no need to open the can of worms you just did when you mentioned the tune.

Why is it when Kurgan tuned that exact same car right after Straighline did there was over a 150+ hp difference? WHen it went on Kurgan's dyno it read LESS than straighlines, without any changes made. No dynos i know have that much of a difference between them (reason why they havne't tune a car for them since)

Also, ask straightline how they burnt up a level 4 trans in a BOLT ON camaro on their dyno.

Or ask them about the car before that one where the owner caught dude playing a video game on the laptop behind the wheel on the dyno.

Or, just leave it to the facts that are actually relevant to this thread.

Doesnt matter to me, people will make up their own minds regardless

Re: only a matter of time

If RR offered to look at it for you free of charge....why turn the offer down? They couldn't do anything worse then what you say they have. It sure sounds like the dyno had something to do with it and it seems like you know that...hence why you wouldn't let them see whats wrong with it. Something just doesn't sound right. Has there been other "problems" from the RR shop or the dyno shop? If they screwed up your transmission.... it can't hurt any for them to "look" at it and see what really happened to it.

Re: only a matter of time

the cost of the trans is really not the issue. Facts are the truck was thrashed on the dyno on at LEAST two occasions making who knows how many pulls (the shop has NEVER done a sy/ty before) with converter unlocked, been street raced, and who knows what other abuse.

Built motors have no warranty, and you cant warranty trannys when they are behind a built motor like that. Why is that a surprise? AND I told him no warranty when he picked it up.

This guy is a friggin liar. He told everybody he had only 500 "cruising" miles and no boost launches. Read his posts. You believe that? He says his tires are so bad. That didnt keep him from racing a TBSS to over 120. How bad can they be?

And last, Despite the "no warranty" disclaimer, I DID offer help. On a sunday morning, i was available to him, how many shops do you know that would do that?

Re: only a matter of time

Im not saying SLP doesn't know what they are doing. I DID have them tune a cobra we did (612 rwhp) and they did a nice job. But it was a manual trans.

Im just saying they should have known it was a bad idea to makes pulls like that with an unlocked trans. obviously it's just they dont have experience with our trucks.

And now that you are called out on it, suddenly the price is different. Like I said. FRIGGIN LIAR. Ida said it myself, but its sunday, and I couldnt check records at the shop to be sure.

Time to move on!

Re: only a matter of time

okay.. if you read my trailblazer post? was i boost launching.. NO it was from a roll... umm yeah.. so read your facts..

the reason i will not bring my truck to rr is because he had my truck for 6 years. i gave him 6,000 dollars.. not nothing got done to it.

as far as straightline. whatever.. they got my shit going. and rr didn't i guess all shops have bad experiences.

note the date on this one... that's when i picked up the truck.. with no motor, no nothing.. all i got was my transmission and a box of parts... with 6,000 dollars down the drain.

okay.. if you read my trailblazer post? was i boost launching.. NO it was from a roll... umm yeah.. so read your facts..

So racing and maintaining speeds greater than 115-120mph has no effect on a transmission?

Does making multiple unlocked pulls have any effect on a trasmission?

IS ANY OF THIS A LIE

No of course none of the scans are lies, but it is irrelevant to this discussion

Re: only a matter of time

I think a lot of people here are seeing things from your point of view greffett. I have been reading through a lot of posts and some things just don't jive. I am all for calling people out when the screw the pooch and holding them accountable.....when and only when they screw up. They price was brought up on my end to show the inability to keep track of pertinent information such a street racing or proper dyno testing. How does someone street race with dry rotted tires? To me its a credibility issue....details make a world of difference to me. In fairness, vetteandtyphoon did admit he was wrong on the price....but has yet to say he might be a little overzealous and pointing blame. I don't like throwing someone under the bus for someone elses screw up. Too much drama for what seems like jumping to conclusions and smoke and mirrors.

someone called me a liar.. and i'm just showing. who the liar is.

what ever happened to the post about my tbss kill?? is it gone? oh it does have an effect on a transmission.. but like i said.. i did not boost launch. tires are bad.. they said no boost launch because the direct force applied would probably pop one.

unlocked converter pulls? i am not sure. im not going to state someone i'm unaware of
