Re: Shaved Sy --rebuild thread

I think the stock swaybar is 32mm...does a 33mm even make a difference???

I seriously doubt 1mm would make a difference. I was just asking because my parts guy is ordering my sway bar bushings on monday.

Ps. I am trying to get that $240 sent off to you this week, can you make those shocks a nice red? Thanks man.

I would add a windshield into the budget with all those sparks hitting it.

hopefully gm welded the frame all the way through.ya kinda knocked off the welds..lmao
if you have seen the welds on a syclone the mig was set pretty high which means penatration.....

those gen 5 camaro wheels look better on a SY !

I agree I think they look awesome. I don't have. Any clearance issues as of now but the cladding isn't on yet. I am setting up my suspension really tight in hopes that I don't tear any of the first time I try to launch it. Wish me luck.

Good luck. Looking forward to seeing it with the cladding on.

Thank you. I will need all of it I can get. I can't wait either. assembly of the suspension and driveline components should be done by the weekend if it would stop raining so I can get ready for paint.

LMFAO......far from the man!...hahahahaha

Yes, i have seen the welds up close. I could weld better with a car battery, jumper cables, and a coat hanger. If i where you, i would box the frame off to get the smooth look you are going for. If you are gonna be putting down some mad horse power i foresee the frame cracking and your whole body tweaking then your shaved body lines coming apart.

Not trying to be an ass, just some helpful advise from someone who has been there.

A little bit of what's going on. Polished aluminum for my first time today took all of 12min for this one valve cover. This is before and after, Can't wait to start with 320 grit and go up to 600 grit these are going to bling. LoL

And now you guessed it. We are smoothing the firewall also,

To really get them to look good you need to go up to 2000-2500 grit wet sanding and then go to white polishing compound and then red compound. Then i would use some aluminum polish like mcquires or something in that nature for the finial polish.

This is what i did on a set of rims when i polished them and they came out looking like a mirror.

That's whats been done so far, next step is painting the firewall and core support, installing wiring 20 circuit wiring harness with weather pack bulkhead connector, Installing sound deadening, running stereo wires and figureing out what the hell to do with this EFFED up dash board.

Anybody have the hookup on Dynomat or any sound deadening? I figure I will need about 40 sq ft.

9 hours of degreasing, scrubbing, wire brushing, and scraping

Oh and prepping and taping.

Finally ready for paint and a cold front came through and the temp dropped from 80 to 50 in 30 minutes. Hopefully will paint when it warms up.

Thank you. I think it will. The guy in the pic (Ben) is my best friend/roommate and he is also the most talented 24 yr old I have ever met. I trust him with my life and he is the one that made me take it this far. When he saw what I did to the body while he was gone he freaked and said "This is going to be the sickest show truck ever when we are done so break out your wallet!!"

So I did but now it's getting empty, Need to sell all these Syclone parts.
